John Fishwick & Sons was a bus company based in Leyland, Lancashire. History The company was formed in 1907 when John Fishwick moved from Wales to Leyland looking for business. He started with a steam propelled wagon from the local Leyland Motors factory in Farington. Marshall William Fishwick (July 5, 1923 – May 22, 2006) was an American multidisciplinary scholar, professor, writer, and editor who started the academic movement known as popular culture studies and established the journal ''International Popular Culture''. In 1970 he cofounded the Popular Culture Association with Ray B. Browne and Russel B. Nye, and the three worked to shape a new academic discipline that blurred the traditional distinctions between high and low culture, focusing on mass culture mediums like television and the Internet and cultural archetypes like comic book heroes. Clifford Fishwick
Clifford Fishwick (21 June 1923 in Accrington, Lancashire – 22 January 1997 in Exeter) was a painter and Principal of Exeter College of Art and Design who exhibited regularly with the Newlyn and Penwith Societies. Fishwick is regarded as an important if underrated figure in post-war British painting. Fishwick attended the Liverpool School of Art. He began teaching at Exeter College of Art and Design in 1947 and was principal from 1958 to 1984. Fishwick had a close association with Peter Lanyon and was a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists from 1952 to 1983. Fishwick exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy and the Penwith Society of Arts. Fishwick lived with his artist wife Patricia (b. 1929) in Topsham, Devon. Tom Fishwick
Tom Silvester Fishwick (24 July 1876 – 21 February 1950) was an English cricketer. He was a middle-order right-handed batsman and an occasional wicketkeeper who played first-class cricket for Warwickshire between 1896 and 1909, and captained the side in the 1902 season and in part of 1907. He was born in Stone, Staffordshire, and died at Sandown, Isle of Wight. His first name, registered as such, was "Tom", not "Thomas". Bert Fishwick
Albert Edward Fishwick (1899–1961) was an English footballer. He scored 61 goals in 188 league games in a ten-year career in the Football League, playing for Plymouth Argyle, Blackpool, Port Vale, and Tranmere Rovers. He helped Vale to the Third Division North title in 1929–30. Career Fishwick played for Leyland, Hamilton Central and Chorley (in two spells) before joining Plymouth Argyle. Fishwick, Scottish Borders
Fishwick is a parish with a small mediaeval village (now vanished) in the Scottish Borders, Scotland, in the traditional county of Berwickshire, seven miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed. The parish church is now a ruin and the parish is united with Hutton and Paxton. Today the parish consists of farms and scattered housing. There is also an old WWII airstrip, still occasionally used. Fishwick borders the north of the River Tweed which here constitutes the border with England. Anciently Fishwick was a possession of Coldingham Priory a cell of the Bishopric of Durham.
