The First Responder Coalition of Sierra Leone (FRCSL) is a coalition of Sierra Leonean and international organizations dedicated to expanding prehospital emergency care and developing emergency medical services in Sierra Leone. It aims to address the high rates of injury and low rates of prehospital emergency care available in the country. History Deployed to explore the creation of prehospital emergency care systems in Sierra Leone, LFR International initially proposed a coalition to national partners to address the lack of prehospital emergency care available. The five founding member organizations later came together in Makeni, a town in Bombali District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone, to establish a formal coalition, which was called the "First Responder Coalition of Sierra Leone." Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) was established in 1962 by an act of the Parliament of Sierra Leone and is a national society. It has its headquarters in Freetown. The SLRCS is to render medical and humanitarian assistance to the Armed Forces and citizens of Sierra Leone during times of conflict, disasters or humanitarian crisis. Each year on May 8, the SLRCS joins the rest of the world in celebrating the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day. The Holy Spirit Hospital is a hospital located in Makeni, Sierra Leone. It is the largest private hospital in the Northern Province, Sierra Leone, Northern Province of Sierra Leone. History The hospital was initially built as a small clinic in 2002 by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Makeni in collaboration with the Albano Diocese of Italy. In 2013, a diabetes clinic was added to the hospital. An additional wing was added to the Holy Spirit Hospital and built by Surg+Restore and ReSurge Africa, a Scottish-based charity, in 2014, which also provided training for two future surgeons and two anesthesiologists.
