Firefighter
A firefighter is a first responder and rescuer extensively trained in firefighting, primarily to extinguish hazardous fires that threaten life, property, and the environment as well as to rescue people and in some cases or jurisdictions also animals from dangerous situations. Male firefighters are sometimes referred to as firemen (and, less commonly, a female firefighter as firewoman). The fire service, also known in some countries as the fire brigade or fire department, is one of the three main emergency services. From urban areas to aboard ships, firefighters have become ubiquitous around the world. The Cravats
The Cravats are an English punk rock band originally from Redditch, England, founded in 1977. The 'classic' line up of Robin Dallaway (vocals, guitar), The Shend (vocals, bass guitar), Svor Naan (saxophone) and Dave Bennett (drums) remained constant between March/April 1978 until the close of 1982. Lead vocals in the original incarnation of the band were shared between Dallaway and The Shend. A reformed version of The Cravats including original members The Shend (vocals) and Svor Naan (saxophone), with Rampton Garstang (drums) has been performing since August 2009 and, since 2013 has included Viscount Biscuits (guitar) and Joe 91 (bass guitar). The Firemen
is an action video game developed and published by Human Entertainment for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It was first released in Japan in 1994, and then in Europe and Australia in 1995. In ''The Firemen'', the player controls firemen who fight fires and save civilians. A sequel was released for the PlayStation in 1995 titled '' The Firemen 2: Pete & Danny''. Gameplay The characters in the game put out fires using hoses with the ability to shoot a direct stream or have a more proximate spray and fire-extinguishing bombs. Use of the fire extinguisher is unlimited although continues are limited in number to 3. Pete takes damage from fire and extreme heat, and when the life gauge reaches zero, and there are not anymore continues, the game is over. Each level has a "boss fire" that has a specific way of being extinguished. ''The Fireman'' is a post-apocalyptic novel by American author Joe Hill. The novel, his fourth, tells the tale of a deadly spore that has infected most of the world's population. Hill first spoke of the novel in 2013 in promotional interviews for his then-new novel '' NOS4A2''. The novel was released on May 17, 2016. Background Hill first spoke of the novel during his book tour for his previous book, '' NOS4A2''. He described it early on as a "science fiction novel about being happy in the face of darkness". ''Fireman Sam'' (Welsh: ') is a Welsh animated children's television series about a fireman named Sam, his fellow firefighters, and other residents in the fictional Welsh rural village of Pontypandy (a portmanteau of two real towns, Pontypridd and Tonypandy). The original idea for the show came from two ex-firemen from London, England, who took their idea to artist and writer Rob Lee who developed the concept, and the show was commissioned. In baseball, a closing pitcher, more frequently referred to as a closer (abbreviated CL), is a relief pitcher who specializes in getting the final outs in a close game when his team is leading. The role is often assigned to a team's best reliever. Before the 1990s, pitchers in similar roles were referred to as a fireman, short reliever, and stopper. A small number of closers have won the Cy Young Award. Jawbreaker is an American punk rock band active from 1986 to 1996, and again since 2017.
