The Fire Services Museum (; pt, Museu dos Bombeiros) is a museum about firefighting in Santo António, Macau, China. History The museum building was constructed in 1920. The museum was opened on 11 December 1999. Architecture The museum building was built in a European style. It has two exhibition halls with a total area of 350 m2. Exhibitions The museum exhibits more than 700 artifacts about fire fighting system, including vehicles and instruments to extinguish fire. Santo António, Macau
Santo António is a civil parish ( pt, freguesia) in the western portion of the Macau Peninsula of Macau. It has the highest population density in Macau (98,776 persons per km²). This parish was one of five in the former Municipality of Macau, one of Macau's two municipalities that were abolished on 31 December 2001 by Law No. 17/2001, following the 1999 transfer of sovereignty over Macau from Portugal to China. While their administrative functions have since been removed, these parishes are still retained nominally. It is north of the parish of Sé, south of Nossa Senhora de Fátima parish, west of São Lázaro parish, and east of the Inner Harbor (Porto Interior). Fire Services Bureau
The Fire Services Bureau (; pt, Corpo de Bombeiros, CB) is responsible for fire and rescue services in Macau. Volunteer fire brigades in Macau dates back to 1851 and full-time department in 1883. Prior to 1851, the Portugal, Portuguese military provided fire services in the colony. In 1999, the CB became a fully civilian agency. Today the department is organized under the Macau Security Force (since 1976 after decades as a division of public works, Leal Senado and municipal control). The brigade is responsible for fire and rescue for both land and air. The CB operates an ambulance service (Ambulância de Macau), but the Macau Red Cross also operates ambulances (Toyota HiAce vans) for emergency and non-emergencies to local hospitals with volunteer staff. Macau Peninsula
The Macau Peninsula is the most populous and historical part of Macau. It has an area of () and is geographically connected to Guangdong Province at the northeast through an isthmus wide. The peninsula, together with downtown Zhuhai, sits on an island separated from the continent by distributaries of the Pearl River. The Border Gate (; pt, Portas do Cerco) was built on the northern isthmus. At the south, the peninsula is connected to Taipa Island by three bridges, the Friendship Bridge (''Ponte de Amizade''); the Macau-Taipa Bridge (''Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho''); and the Sai Van Bridge (''Ponte de Sai Van'').
