Finnvær Lighthouse
Finnvær Lighthouse ( no, Finnvær fyr) is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Frøya in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lighthouse is located at Finnværet on the small island of Valøya in the Froan islands. The lighthouse is located about northeast of the Sula Lighthouse which is at Sula, about northeast of Vingleia Lighthouse, and about southwest of the Halten Lighthouse at Halten. The lighthouse was originally built in 1912 but in 1985 it was closed and a new automated tower was built right next to it. Current tower The tall concrete, cylindrical tower is painted white with two black horizontal stripes around it. The roof is painted red. On top of the tower, at an elevation of above sea level is the light. Froan
Froan or Froøyene is a populated archipelago of small, rocky islands in the municipality of Frøya in Trøndelag county, Norway. Froan consists of several hundred islands and islets that lie in the sea about west of the Fosen peninsula. The islands run for about in a northeasterly direction, parallel to the coastline. The island village of Halten lies at the northern end of the island chain. Only a few of the islands are inhabited, and in 2017, the population was only 38. Lighthouses In Norway
The coast of Norway is 100,915 km long and there have been a total of 212 lighthouses along it, but no more than 154 have ever been operational at the same time. The first, Lindesnes Lighthouse, opened in 1655; the newest Lighthouse, Anda, was finished in 1932. The first Lighthouses were private operations, but in 1821 the government made the Channel and Harbor Inspector responsible for Lighthouses in Norway. A dedicated Lighthouse Administration was set up in 1841. The Lighthouses are today mostly automated and since 1974, run by the Norwegian Coastal Administration. Two lightvessels had been operated along the Norwegian coast. "Enigheden" off Ålesund from 1856 vas replaced with Lepsøyrev Lighthouse in 1879, and "Ildjernsflu" moored off Nesodden from 1914 until it was scrapped in 1968. Solar Power
Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV) or indirectly using concentrated solar power. A light characteristic is all of the properties that make a particular navigational light identifiable. Graphical and textual descriptions of navigational light sequences and colours are displayed on nautical charts and in Light Lists with the chart symbol for a lighthouse, lightvessel, buoy or sea mark with a light on it. Different lights use different colours, frequencies and light patterns, so mariners can identify which light they are seeing. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Halten, Trøndelag
Halten is an unpopulated fishing village in the municipality of Frøya in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village was located on several adjacent islands at the far northern end of the Froan island chain. They constituted the northernmost part of the string of islands north of Frøya, which stretch from Sula in the south to Halten in the north. Halten Lighthouse is located on the island of Halten in the central part of the fishing village. The fishing village primarily was located on the islands of Husøya, Halten, Steinsøya, and Rorsøya. A large breakwater was built to protect the harbour area of the village. The village has had no permanent residents since 1988, but during the summers there are many vacationers and tourists.
