Dave Finnie
David Nicholson Finnie (August 2, 1883 – October 29, 1969) was a Canadian ice hockey goaltender for the Ottawa Hockey Club. He was a member of the famous "Silver Seven" era of the team, Stanley Cup champions from 1903–1906. He was a member of the Stanley-Cup winning team in 1905. Career Finnie grew up in Ottawa, and played for the Ottawa Aberdeens. In 1904–05, after the retirement of Bouse Hutton, he became the starting goalie for Ottawa. The team was the reigning Stanley Cup champion, by winning the Federal Amateur Hockey League (FAHL) season and a Stanley Cup challenge match against the Dawson City Nuggets. He was the Ottawa goaltender only for the one season. Billy Hague won the job the next season. He played for the Montreal Hockey Club in 1907–08. Ethel V. Finnie (January 7, 1898 – May 1, 1981) was an American classic female blues singer. Her most notable recording is "You're Gonna Wake Up Some Morning, but Your Papa Will Be Gone". Information about her life outside music is sketchy. Life Finnie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the second child and only daughter of Noble Armond Finnie, a butler, and Mary "Mamie" Anderson Finnie, a housewife. She had an older brother, Noble Finnie, Jr. Finnie was a graduate of New Orleans University (later incorporated into Dillard University) and was employed as a schoolteacher at the McDonogh School No. 6. John Bradford Finnie (born 31 December 1956) is a Scottish Greens politician. He was the Green Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Highlands and Islands region from 2016 up until 2021, having previously sat as a Scottish National Party (SNP) member from 2011 to 2012 then as an independent from 2012 to 2016. He was formerly a police officer and then a councillor. Early life Finnie was born in Clunes, and was educated at Achnacarry Primary and Lochaber High School. Roger Finnie
Roger Lewis Finnie (November 6, 1945 – August 6, 2012) was an American football former offensive tackle and defensive tackle who played eleven professional seasons in the National Football League. Finnie played college football for Florida A&M University. Finnie was an All-City team member at Miami Northwestern Senior High School and a key factor in Northwestern's state championship in 1964. At Florida A&M, Finnie garnered All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and All-American honors. Finnie was selected by the New York Jets in the 14th round of the 1969 NFL Draft. He began his NFL career as a defensive tackle and also played offensive guard and tight end with the Jets. He was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1973 where he was converted to a full-time offensive tackle. James Ross Finnie (born 11 February 1947) is a Scottish Liberal Democrat politician and a former Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP). He is a former Minister for the Environment and Rural Development in the Scottish Executive, and Member of the Scottish Parliament for the West of Scotland region.
