''Finnegan's Ball'' is a 1927 American silent comedy film directed by James P. Hogan and starring Blanche Mehaffey, Mack Swain and Cullen Landis. It is based on an 1894 Broadway play of the same title.Munden p.246 Synopsis The Finnegan family emigrate from Ireland to the United States, but get into a dispute with their neighbors the Flannigans. The Finnegans mistakenly believe they have inherited a large fortune and become very snobbish, but all is resolved by a marriage between the two families. Kewpie Morgan (born Horace Allen Morgan, February 1, 1892 – September 24, 1956) was an American silent film comedian who also performed in a few early sound films. He appeared in 99 films from 1915 to 1936. He appeared in the films of such comedians as Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy. He posthumously appeared in Robert Youngson compilations of the 1960s highlighting silent film comedy. Before he became an actor, Morgan was an electrician at a film studio. Harry Bowen (October 4, 1888 – December 5, 1941) was an American character actor of the silent and sound film eras. Born on October 4, 1888, in Brooklyn, New York, he broke into the film industry doing film shorts during the silent era. His work on shorts continued into talking pictures, and it was in 1929 that he made his first appearance in a full-length feature, with a small role in ''Red Hot Rhythm'', directed by Leo McCarey. During his 20-year career, Bowen appeared in over 150 films, most of them film shorts, supporting comedians like Charley Chase, Edgar Kennedy and Laurel and Hardy. Blanche Mehaffey
Blanche Mehaffey (July 28, 1908 – March 31, 1968) was an American showgirl and film actress. Early life and career The daughter of Edward Mehaffey and his wife, soprano Blanche Berndt, she had a brother, Edward Mehaffey Jr. She started as a dancer with the Ziegfeld Follies before coming to Hollywood to play comedy roles in motion pictures. Show producer Florenz Ziegfeld said she possessed the most beautiful eyes in the entire world. She was among the '' Baby Stars of 1924'' chosen by the Wampas. Others in that year's group were Clara Bow, Dorothy Mackaill, and Hazel Keener. Her debut in movies was in the silent film ''Fully Insured'' (1923) at Hal Roach Studios. She played in many Hal Roach comedies for a number of years with her leading men usually Charley Chase and later Glenn Tryon.
