The fine art of Leningrad is an important component of Russian Soviet art—in the opinion of the art historians Vladimir Gusev and Vladimir Leniashin, "one of its most powerful currents". Sergey Timofeyevich Konenkov (Сергей Тимофеевич Коненков) (also Sergei Konyonkov) (russian: Серге́й Тимофеевич Конёнков; – 9 December 1971) was a Russian and Soviet sculptor. Alexander Alexandrovich Kiselyov, or Kiselev (russian: Александр Александрович Киселёв; 6 June 1838 in Suomenlinna – 20 January 1911 in Saint Petersburg) was a Russian landscape painter. Biography He was born to a military family at a Russian naval fortress and received his first schooling in the Arakcheev Cadet Corps. In 1852, he was transferred to the 2nd Saint Petersburg Cadet Corps, but resigned in 1858 before completing his training course and entered Saint Petersburg State University. The school was temporarily closed during a period of student unrest in 1861, so he transferred to the Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1864, he was awarded the title of "Artist Third-Class". Mstislav Valerianovich Dobuzhinsky or Dobujinsky ( lt, Mstislavas Dobužinskis, August 14, 1875, Novgorod – November 20, 1957, New York City) was a Russian and Lithuanian artist noted for his cityscapes conveying the explosive growth and decay of the early twentieth-century city. Of noble Lithuanian extraction, Dobuzhinsky was born on August 14, 1875 in Novgorod into the family of an army officer.
