Film Critic
Film criticism is the analysis and evaluation of films and the film medium. In general, film criticism can be divided into two categories: journalistic criticism that appears regularly in newspapers, magazines and other popular mass-media outlets; and academic criticism by film scholars who are informed by film theory and are published in academic journals. Academic film criticism rarely takes the form of a review; instead it is more likely to analyse the film and its place in the history of its genre or in the whole of film history. Film criticism is also labeled as a type of writing that perceives films as possible achievements and wishes to convey their differences, as well as the films being made in a level of quality that is satisfactory or unsatisfactory. Film criticism is also associated with the journalistic type of criticism, which is grounded in the media's effects being developed, and journalistic criticism resides in standard structures such as newspapers. Namrata Joshi
Namrata Joshi is an Indian film critic based in New Delhi. Originally working for ''Outlook'', she remained there from 1999 till 2015, when she joined ''The Hindu''. She won the National Film Award for Best Film Critic in 2004 Career Joshi is an alumnus of the University of Delhi, Film and Television Institute of India and Times Centre for Media Studies. In 1999, she joined ''Outlook'' as a special correspondent, and her job involved writing features about films. During her ''Outlook'' tenure, she also wrote weekly reviews for ''Showtime'' magazine. Utpal Datta is an Assamese film critic from Guwahati. Taran Adarsh (born 13 June 1965) is an Indian film critic and trade analyst. He is best known for giving trade figures and box office updates on social media. Career Taran Adarsh started his journalism career at the age of 15 with ''Trade Guide'', a weekly box office magazine. Sucharita Tyagi is an Indian film critic and former radio jockey. She began her career by hosting radio programming in New Delhi, and later gained wider recognition as a creator of web content and YouTube videos for film review platforms. Born and brought up in New Delhi, India, Tyagi aspired to work in broadcast media from a young age. She found work as a radio jockey at the Delhi-based station Red FM, and later moved to Mumbai, where she gained wider recognition for her work on Radio City. Tyagi transitioned into web content in the year 2015 when she began recording YouTube videos for the film review platform, ''Film Companion''. Sanjit Narwekar
Sanjit Narwekar (born 8 May 1952) is an Indian documentary filmmaker scriptwriter and author. A 1967 alumni of Bombay Scottish High School, Mumbai, he completed his Bachelor’s in Statistics (1974) and his Master’s in Economics (1976) from the University of Mumbai. Early career He began writing in 1969 while he was still in college and has more than 2500 articles to his credit in the last 50 years. During his post graduation he worked at the National Institute of Bank Management but opted to work in journalism soon after he had completed his Masters. Randor Guy
Madabhushi Rangadorai (born 8 November 1937), better known by his pen name Randor Guy, is an Indian lawyer, columnist and film and legal historian associated with the English language newspaper ''The Hindu''. He is also the official editor of the weekly column "Blast from the Past" that appears in ''The Hindu''. Early life Randor Guy's original name was Rangadorai, but his pen name later became official. CNN-News18 (originally CNN-IBN) is an Indian English-language news television channel founded by Raghav Bahl based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is currently co-owned by Network18 Group and Warner Bros. Discovery. CNN provides international coverage for the channel, while Indian Broadcasting Network concentrates on Indian and local reports. In May 2014, Reliance Industries announced it would be taking over Network18. The move was touted as "the biggest-ever deal in the Indian media space". Rajeev Masand is an Indian film critic and journalist. He has worked for Noida based English language news channel CNN-Indian Broadcasting Network (CNN-IBN). He usually reviews Bollywood films and major Hollywood films released in India in his weekend show ''Now Showing''. He studied at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics and graduated from Mumbai University, Masand started reporting at the age of 16 at ''The Times of India'' newspaper.
