Filippo Di Antonio Filippelli
Filippo di Antonio Filippelli (1460–1506) was an Italian Renaissance painter in Tuscany. He was born in Badia a Passignano, near Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, where he was a pupil of the Florentine painter Bernardo di Stefano Rosselli. His style recalls that of Domenico Ghirlandaio, who also worked at Passignano. Filippelli was active primarily as a fresco painter. He painted many frescoes for churches in the countryside surrounding Florence. ''Trompe-l'œil'' ( , ; ) is an artistic term for the highly realistic optical illusion of three-dimensional space and objects on a two-dimensional surface. ''Trompe l'oeil'', which is most often associated with painting, tricks the viewer into perceiving painted objects or spaces as real. Forced perspective is a related illusion in architecture. Montespertoli () is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Florence in the Italian region Tuscany, located about southwest of Florence. Poggibonsi is a town in the province of Siena, Tuscany, central Italy. It is located on the river Elsa and is the main centre of the Valdelsa Valley. History The area around Poggibonsi was already settled in the Neolithic age, although the first traces of civilisation dates from Etruscan-Roman age, attested by a series of necropolises and by placenames such as "Talciona" or "Marturi" (from the Etruscan name of Mars).
