Figure Skating At The Winter Youth Olympics
Figure skating is one of the sports featured at the Winter Youth Olympics. Medals are awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance, as well as a team event. Figure Skating
Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games, when contested at the 1908 Olympics in London. The Olympic disciplines are men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance; the four individual disciplines are also combined into a team event, first included in the Winter Olympics in 2014. The non-Olympic disciplines include synchronized skating, Theater on Ice, and four skating. From intermediate through senior-level competition, skaters generally perform two programs (the short program and the free skate), which, depending on the discipline, may include spins, jumps, moves in the field, lifts, throw jumps, death spirals, and other elements or moves. Dmitri Sergeyevich Aliev (russian: Дмитрий Сергеевич Алиев; born 1 June 1999) is a Russian figure skater. He is the 2020 European champion and the 2020 Russian national champion. Li Zijun (; December 14, 1996) is a Chinese former competitive figure skater. She is the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic bronze medalist and the 2014 Four Continents bronze medalist. Li is also the 2017 Asian Winter Games silver medalist, 2010 JGP Final bronze medalist, and a four-time (2011-2014) Chinese national champion. She is the 2014 Olympic champion, a two-time European silver medalist (2012, 2013), a two-time Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist (2011, 2015), and a four-time Russian national champion (2009, 2011, 2012, 2014). Yanhao "Dwayne" Li (; born 12 August 2008) is a New Zealand figure skater. He is the 2024 Youth Olympic bronze medalist, 2023 Junior Grand Prix Thailand bronze medalist, and 2024 Cranberry Cup International Junior Champion. Figure skating at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics will take place at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea, from 27 January to 1 February 2024.
