Figure skating was featured as part of the 2011 Asian Winter Games at the Saryarka Velodrome in Astana, Kazakhstan. Events were held on between the third and fifth of February 2011. Skaters competed in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. Saryarka Velodrome
The Saryarka Velodrome ( kk, Сарыарқа велотрегі, ''Saryarqa velotregi''; russian: Велотрек Сарыарка) is an indoor cycle-racing track or velodrome that is located in Astana, Kazakhstan. Constructed in the shape of a racer's helmet, the velodrome is a unique sports complex that not only houses a cycling track, but its 58,000 metre square surface area also contains a sports courts, a fitness centre, a swimming pool, a basketball court, an ice rink, as well as conference halls, a restaurant and a hotel. It is mainly used for cycling and basketball. The seating capacity of the arena for cycling events is 9,270, being able to use only the permanent tiers of seating. Additional temporary tiers of seating can be added around the court area for basketball games, bringing capacity to 10,000. Song Nan (; born August 9, 1990) is a Chinese former competitive figure skater. Cathy Reed
Cathy Reed (born June 5, 1987) is a retired American-born Japanese ice dancer. With her brother Chris Reed, she is a seven-time Japanese national champion (2008–2011, 2013-2015). Personal life Reed was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Her mother is Japanese and her father is American. She was a dual citizen of Japan and the United States until she turned 22. Japanese law required those who are dual citizens at birth to relinquish their dual citizenship, so Cathy Reed chose Japanese citizenship at the age of 22 in order to continue to represent Japan in ice dancing. She competed in ice dancing with her younger brother Chris Reed until her retirement in April 2015. Her younger sister Allison Reed is also an ice dancer, who represented Georgia with Otar Japaridze, Israel with Vasili Rogov and currently represents Lithuania with Saulius Ambrulevicius. Chris Reed (figure Skater)
Chris Reed (July 7, 1989 – March 14, 2020) was an American-born Japanese ice dancer. With his sister Cathy Reed, he became a seven-time Japanese national champion (2008–2011, 2013–2015) and the 2011 Asian Winter Games silver medalist. They competed at two Winter Olympics (2010, 2014) and reached the final segment at nine ISU Championships. With Kana Muramoto, Reed was the 2018 Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2017 Asian Winter Games silver medalist and a three-time Japanese national champion (2016–2018). With partner Huang Xintong, he is the 2011 Asian Winter Games champion and a five-time Chinese national champion (2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2014). Pang Qing
Pang Qing (; born December 24, 1979, in Harbin, Heilongjiang) is a Chinese retired pair skater. With her husband Tong Jian, she is the 2010 Olympic silver medalist, the 2006 and 2010 World Champion, a five-time Four Continents champion (2002, 2004, 2008, 2009 & 2011) and the 2008 Grand Prix Final Champion. Career Pang was born in Harbin, the home of Chinese pair skating. She began skating at age six. She originally competed as a single skater. In 1993, coach Yao Bin teamed her up with Tong and they have been skating together ever since. When Yao moved to Beijing, Pang and Tong trained without a coach until 1997, when they began training under Yao again. Pang and Tong did not have a strong junior career, perhaps due to the fact that the Junior Grand Prix did not exist when they were skating at the junior level. Tong Jian
Tong Jian (; born August 15, 1979 in Harbin, Heilongjiang) is a Chinese retired pair skater. With his wife Pang Qing, he is the 2010 Olympic silver medalist, 2006 and 2010 World Champion, a five-time Four Continents champion (2002, 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2011) and the 2008 Grand Prix Final Champion. Career Tong was born into a Manchurian family in the city of Harbin, China, the home of Chinese pair skating. He began skating at age six. He originally competed as a single skater. He then competed as an ice dancer for two years because of his weak jumps. After his short ice dancing career, Tong switched to pairs. He previously competed with Zhang Xiwen. In 1993, coach Yao Bin teamed him up with Qing and they have been skating together ever since.
