Twelve national teams competed in the men's Olympic field hockey tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Sixteen players were officially enrolled in each squad. Two reserve players could also be nominated to be available should a player enrolled in the official squad become injured during the tournament. Field Hockey At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's field hockey tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics was the 22nd edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held over a thirteen-day period beginning on 30 July, and culminating with the medal finals on 11 August. All games were played at the Riverbank Arena within the Olympic Park in London, United Kingdom. Defending champions Germany won the gold medal for the fourth time after defeating the Netherlands 2–1 in the final. Australia won the bronze medal by defeating Great Britain 3–1. Competition format The twelve teams in the tournament were divided into two pools of six, with each team initially playing round-robin games within their pool. Following the completion of the round-robin, the top two teams from each pool advance to the semi-finals. All other teams play classification matches to determine the final tournament rankings. Matthew David Swann (born 16 May 1989) is an Australian field hockey player. He plays for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. He is a member of the Australian men's national field hockey team, making his first cap in 2009. He won a gold medal at the 2011 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy and a bronze medal the 2012 Summer Olympics. Personal Swann is from Queensland. He is tall. He used to live in Herston, Queensland. Ben Hawes
Benjamin Robert Hawes (born 28 July 1980) is a former English field hockey player, a 3x Olympian who played for the English and the British national team in midfield or as a halfback. Hawes competed for England and Great Britain at numerous tournaments, and has represented Great Britain in Field hockey at the 2004, 2008 (as captain) and 2012 Summer Olympics. He had 132 caps representing England and 99 caps representing Great Britain (231 International Caps) before he announced his retirement from international hockey in 2013. Robert Moore (field Hockey)
Robert Stephen "Rob" Moore (born 21 May 1981) is an English field hockey player. Moore is amongst the most capped England players and was a key part of the team that picked up a silver medal at the Champions Trophy 2010 and a gold medal at the European Cup 2009. Jonathan "Jonty" Clarke (born in Essex) is an English field hockey player who plays as a forward. Ashley Steven Jackson (born 27 August 1987) is an English field hockey player who plays club hockey as a defender or midfielder for Old Georgians'. He represented the England and Great Britain national teams from 2006 until 2021. Glenn Kirkham
Glenn Charles W. Kirkham (born 8 October 1982) is an English field hockey player who played for the English and British national team. Hockey Kirkham made his international senior debut for the national squad in January 2002 in a match against Poland. He was named as the England captain for 2006–07. He was part of the England team that participated in the field hockey world cup in Monchengladbach, Germany where they finished 5th overall. He also competed in the 2009 European championships in Amsterdam where England were champions. He was part of the England squad in Delhi, India at the Hero Honda World Cup that lost only one group game against Spain, putting them through to the semi-finals. Andrew Lewis Charter (born 30 March 1987) is an Australian field hockey player. He played club hockey for Central Hockey Club, winning a championship with the team in 2004 and 2008. He played for the Australian Capital Territory team in the Australian Hockey League. He is a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team. Kiel Brown (born May 1984) is an Australian field hockey player. He earned a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 2011 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy. Personal Brown was born in May 1984 in Toowoomba, Queensland. He is from Western Australia. He is currently a university student, at Curtin University where he is studying psychology.
