Festival De Cans
The Cans Festival ( gl, Festival de Cans) is an annual short film festival held in the parish of Cans (O Porriño, Spain) that coincides with the near-homophonous Cannes Film Festival. The festival is organized by the Arela Cultural Association and coordinated by the scriptwriter Alfonso Pato. The festival takes over the whole village; Barns and basements change their normal uses to become cinema screens and the audience are ferried by locals to and from the screenings on two-wheel tractors, known locally as '' chimpíns''. Other free activities are also available to the public: concerts, parades and hiking routes. Background The Cans Festival is celebrated every year in the parish of Cans (O Porriño, Pontevedra Spain), which has an official population of 400 inhabitants although during the festival that number rises to more than 10,000 people. O Porriño
O Porriño (historically known in English as ) is a municipality in Galicia (Spain), Galicia, Spain in the province of Pontevedra (province), Pontevedra. An industrial town, in the Vigo metropolitan area, it is an important economic dependency. One of its main industries is granite production; the variety of granite produced in O Porriño is known as (Porriño Pink), and is exported from the Port of Vigo mainly to Italy, Japan and China. Julián Hernández (born 1972 in Mexico City, Mexico as Julián Hernández Pérez) is a Mexican multi-awarded filmmaker. Teté (24 August 1907 – 18 June 1962) was a Brazilian football manager who coached Brazil national team for some games in 1956. He also coached Sport Club Internacional during the 1950s. ''Lucía'' is a 1968 Cuban black-and-white drama film directed by Humberto Solás, and written by Solás, Julio García Espinosa and Nelson Rodríguez. It was the winner of the Golden Prize and the Prix FIPRESCI at the 6th Moscow International Film Festival in 1969. Manuel Rivas Barrós (born 24 October 1957 in A Coruña, Spain) is a Galician writer, poet and journalist. Biography Manuel Rivas Barrós began his writing career at the age of 15. Francisco Javier Krahe de Salas (30 March 1944 – 12 July 2015) was a Spanish singer active from 1980. Biography Krahe was born in distrito de Salamanca, Madrid. He studied at Colegio del Pilar, where he began his studies in business administration, but later dropped out to work in film as production assistant. During his military service, he met his future wife, Annick, and traveled with her to Canada, where he started working as songwriter. He signed with the label Sony Music Entertainment. Iván Ferreiro Rodríguez (born 15 August 1970) is a Spanish singer-songwriter born in Vigo, Galicia. He was the voice, leader and composer of the popular pop-rock band Los Piratas. Career After Los Piratas split, by late 2003, Iván kept playing with his brother Amaro in a pub in Vigo, called ''El Ensanche''.
