Fernando (or Fernán) Pérez de Traba (''c''.1090–1 November 1155), also Fernão Peres de Trava ( or ) in Portuguese, was a nobleman and count of the Kingdom of León who for a time held power over all Galicia. He became the lover of Countess Teresa of Portugal, through whom he attained great influence in that domain, and was the ''de facto'' ruler of the County of Portugal between 1121 and 1128. The '' Poema de Almería'', a Latin poem celebrating one of Alfonso VII's major victories of the ''Reconquista'', records that "if one were to see him ernán one would judge him already a king." Family Fernán was the second son of Pedro Fróilaz de Traba, founder of the House of Traba, and his first wife, Urraca Fróilaz. His family was the most powerful in Galicia at the time, and he himself held properties in the most important Galician cities: Lugo and Santiago de Compostela. Fernán Pérez De Guzmán
Fernan (or Fernando) Perez de Guzman (1376–1458) was a Spanish historian and poet. He belonged to a family distinguished both for its patrician standing and its literary connections, for his uncle was Pero López de Ayala, Grand Chancellor of Castile, historian and poet, and a kinsman was the Marquis of Santillana, one of the most important authors of the time of Juan II of Castile. Part of his verse, such as the "Proverbios" and the "Diversas virtudes", is purely moral and didactic. The more important part is represented by the panegyrical ''Loores de los claros varones de España'', which in 409 octaves gives a full account of the leading figures in Spanish history from Roman times down to that of Benedict XIII. The most notable of his prose historical compositions is the ''Generaciones é Semblanzas'', a collection of biographies which constitutes the third part of a large compilation, ''La mar de historias''. Fernando Pérez de Almazán, was a Spanish emissary who served as the first governor of Texas as a politically independent province from Coahuila (1722–1727). Early life Fernando Perez de Almazan was born in the early eighteenth century, but his place of birth is unknown. In the Aguayo expedition he became emissary of the French commander in the city of Natchitoches (then belonging to Texas, currently within Louisiana), when France intended to invade the area. Career In 1721, Fernando Perez de Almazan and Captain Gabriel Costales came to Natchitoches to meet with the commander of the French fort and explain his intention to occupy Los Adaes (which had been Spanish, then taken and later abandoned by the French). Fernando Perez (born April 23, 1983) is an American current Major League Baseball (MLB) coach for the San Francisco Giants, former professional baseball outfielder, and a professional writer. He played baseball at Columbia University. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 7th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball draft. In while for the Visalia Oaks, Perez led the minor leagues with 123 runs. He played in MLB for the Rays in 2008 and 2009. Fernando Pérez Valdés (born 1944) is a prominent Cuban film director. Career Pérez graduated from the University of Havana with a degree in Language and Spanish Literature, and began working in the Cuban film industry in 1971 as an assistant director, before directing his first documentary in 1975. His feature debut was the drama '' Clandestinos'' (1987) but it was not until ''Madagascar'' (1994) that he garnered significant international recognition. Pérez later directed '' La Vida es Silbar'' (1998) and '' Suite Habana'' (2003). ''Suite Habana'' is considered by some critics to be the best Cuban film in decades.
