Fencing At The 2000 Summer Olympics – Women's Team épée
The women's team épée was one of ten fencing events on the fencing at the 2000 Summer Olympics programme. It was the second appearance of the event. The competition was held on 19 September 2000. 26 fencers from 8 nations competed. Sydney Exhibition Centre
The Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre was a convention, exhibition and entertainment complex in Darling Harbour, Sydney. Designed by Philip Cox, the complex opened in 1988 as part of an urban renewal and redevelopment of the Darling Harbour area during the period. The complex was eventually demolished in 2013 to make way for the International Convention Centre. Claudia Bokel
Claudia Bokel (born 30 August 1973, in Ter Apel, the Netherlands) is a German épée fencer. Biography Claudia Bokel fought for the Fencing-Club Tauberbischofsheim. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, she won the silver medal in the épée competition with her teammates, Britta Heidemann and Imke Duplitzer. She also competed at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. She won a gold medal at the 2001 World Fencing Championships and at the 2006 European Seniors Fencing Championship épée event. Imke Duplitzer (born 28 July 1975 in Karlsruhe) is a German épée fencing, fencer. Imke is a four time Olympian (2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012) where she placed 10th, 5th, 5th, and 29th respectively (in the individual competition). She also fenced in three team events at the Olympics, and at the 2004 Summer Olympics she won the silver medal in the team épée competition with Britta Heidemann and Claudia Bokel. During the 2006 World Fencing Championships she won the bronze medal after beating Romania in the épée team event together with her teammates Claudia Bokel, Britta Heidemann and Marijana Markovic. Margrete Mørch (born 23 June 1977) is a Norwegian fencer. Biography She is the granddaughter of Claus Mørch Sr., daughter of Claus Mørch Jr. and niece of Ole Mørch, who all fenced for Norway at the Olympics. She grew up at Bygdøy in Oslo, and graduated from Fagerborg Upper Secondary School in 1997. She made her national breakthrough at the 1991 Norwegian Championships, where she, aged only 14, made her way to the final. Here she lost out to Nina Steenland. She and her brother Claus Mørch were coached by Mariusz Piasecki. Mørch and Steenland were the Norwegian competitors at the 1994 World Championships, but both made an early exit.
