Fencing At The 1996 Summer Olympics – Men's Team Sabre
The men's team sabre was one of ten fencing events on the fencing at the 1996 Summer Olympics programme. It was the twentieth appearance of the event. The competition was held on July 24, 1996. 33 fencers from 11 nations competed. Georgia World Congress Center
The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) is a convention center in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. Enclosing some 3.9 million ft2 (360,000 m2) in exhibition space and hosting more than a million visitors each year, the GWCC is the world's largest LEED certified convention center and the third-largest convention center in the United States. Opened in 1976, the GWCC was the first state-owned convention center established in the United States. The center is operated on behalf of the state by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, which was chartered in 1971 by Georgia General Assembly to develop an international trade and exhibition center in Atlanta. Vilmoș Szabo
Vilmoș Szabo ( hu, Vilmos Szabó, born 30 December 1964) is a retired Romanian sabre fencer. He competed at the 1984, 1992 and 1996 Olympics and won a team bronze medal in 1984. He is an ethnic Hungarian and he married Olympic foil medallist Reka Zsofia Lazăr. They moved to Germany in 1993 and became fencing coaches at TSV Bayer Dormagen. Mihai Covaliu
Mihai Claudiu Covaliu (born 5 November 1977 in Brașov) is a Romanian retired sabre fencer, Olympic champion in 2000 and world champion in 2005, and coach of the Romanian men's sabre team. He is also ex-president of the Romanian Fencing Federation and, from 2016, president of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee. Personal life Covaliu's first sport was football. He began fencing at age nine, after coaches from CS Tractorul Brașov presented the sport to his school. His mother encouraged him to persevere despite the harsh training methods used at the time. In 1998 he joined the BNR Bucharest, a club supported by the National Bank of Romania, before transferring to CS Dinamo București, of which he is still a member as of 2014.
