The men's team foil was one of eight fencing events on the fencing at the 1968 Summer Olympics programme. It was the twelfth appearance of the event. Fernando Montes De Oca Fencing Hall
The Fernando Montes de Oca Fencing Hall is an indoor sports venue located in the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City area of Mexico City. It hosted the fencing competitions and the fencing part of the modern pentathlon competition of the 1968 Summer Olympics. The Olympic Fencing Hall was built between November 13, 1967, and September, 1968, in the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City. The 310-by-210-foot rectangular structure is covered by a convex roof of corrugated asbestos supported by steel cables. The ground floor had 15 fencing strips—each of which was provided with a two-sided scoreboard, a judges' podium and a control table—and 37 cubicles for competitors. On the south side were facilities for the press, dressing rooms, etc. The north side housed offices, a lounge, a warm-up area and additional dressing rooms and service areas. The men's team foil was one of eight fencing events on the fencing at the 1972 Summer Olympics At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, eight events in fencing (sport), fencing were contested. Peter Bakonyi (fencer Born 1933)
Peter Bakonyi (10 July 1933 – 26 August 1997) was a Hungarian-born Canadian Olympic foil and épée fencer. He competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. He was also a six-time Canadian national fencing champion, 18-time British Columbia fencing champion, three-time medalist at the Commonwealth Games, four-time silver medalist at the Maccabiah Games in Israel. Early life Bakonyi was born in Budapest, Hungary, and was Jewish. He met his wife Vera at a function in high school. He attended law school and fenced at Budapesti EAC in Budapest, graduating with a law degree in 1956 at the Faculty of Law of Eötvös Loránd University and trained for the modern pentathlon (épée fencing, swimming, horseback riding, shooting, and cross country running). In 1957 he and Vera immigrated to Canada from Hungary. They married in Vancouver, Canada, in 1959. Bakonyi switched his career to real estate, and began to train solely in fencing.
