Baku Crystal Hall
Baku Crystal Hall ( Azerbaijani: ''Bakı Kristal Zalı'') is an indoor arena in Baku, Azerbaijan. Located on the coast of Baku near National Flag Square, construction of the arena began in August 2011 and finished in April 2012in time for it to host its first major event, the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. History Baku Crystal Hall was built in order to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. On 2 August 2011, the main agreement was signed with Alpine Bau Deutschland AG to construct the venue and preparations for construction had been started in the area. Even though the full cost of the contract was not named, the government allocated 6 million AZN for the construction of the venue. On 5 September 2011, it was announced that the venue will hold 25,000 spectators. The arena also contains VIP lounges. The construction of the arena was expected to be completed by 31 March 2012. Marcus Mepstead OLY ( ; born 11 May 1990) is a British Olympic foil fencer, who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. A team bronze medallist at the 2010 and 2013 European Championships, and team gold medallist at the 2015 European Games. In 2016, he won the foil title at the British Fencing Championships. and 2019 Vice-World Champion. Career Mepstead started fencing after seeing it on his way home after school. Leszek Rajski (born 25 November 1983) is a Polish foil fencer, team silver medallist in the 2013 European Fencing Championships. Rajski joined the Poland senior foil team in 2010. That same year he won the Poland national championship. With Michał Majewski, Paweł Kawiecki, and Radosław Glonek, he reached the final of the 2013 European Fencing Championships in Zagreb, but Poland could not overcome Germany and came away with a silver medal. Radu Dărăban (born 26 June 1983) is a Romanian fencer. In the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed in the Men's foil, but was defeated in the second round. Career Dărăban began fencing at age 9 at his local club, CSM Cluj, where he was trained by Mugur Codreanu. He won the Junior National Championship in 2001 and 2002. He later transferred to CSA Steaua Bucharest and joined the national team. He placed fourth in the team event of the 2006 European Championships at İzmir, after Romania were defeated by Russia in the small final. Richard Kruse (born 30 July 1983) is a former British right-handed foil fencer and four-time Olympian. In 2015, he was part of the Great Britain team that shocked Olympic champions Italy to win the first European Games gold in team foil, the first British gold medal in a team fencing event at World or European level for fifty years.
