''Femme'' (; , literally meaning "woman") is a term traditionally used to describe a lesbian who exhibits a feminine identity or gender presentation. Alternate meanings of the word also exist with some non-lesbian individuals using the word, notably some gay men, bisexuals, nonbinary and transgender individuals. Heavily associated with lesbian history and culture, ''femme'' has been used among lesbians to distinguish traditionally feminine lesbians from their butch (i.e. masculine) lesbian counterparts and partners. Laura Bettinson (born 20 September 1987), also known by her stage names FEMME and lau.ra, is an English singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. She started writing music at 16, gigging around the Midlands area before moving to London to study Bmus Popular Music at Goldsmiths, University of London. Femme Simon Gaastra (born 23 July 1945 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands) was a Dutch Professor of maritime history at the University of Leiden and a leading expert on the history of the Dutch East India Company. Early life and education Gaastra attended the Rijks Lyceum in Heerenveen and began his studies in history at the University of Leiden in 1965, receiving his doctorate in March 1972. Academic career In 1972–73, he began working as a researcher with the Nederlandse Organisatie voor Zuiver Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek on Dutch-Asiatic Shipping. In 1973–74, he taught history in Haarlem, then in March 1974, the University of Leiden appointed him as a university docent. In 2004, he succeeded Jaap R. Bruijn, as Professor of Maritime History. Gaastra retired from this post at the University of Leiden in June 2010 and was succeeded by Hendrik J. den Heijer, a specialist in the history of the Dutch West India Company. Elisa Sophia Schmidt (born 14 February 1990), known by the stage names Femme Schmidt and SCHMIDT, is a German singer. Life Schmidt grew up in Koblenz. When 16, she visited Hurtwood House near Dorking, Surrey, England, where she began writing songs in English. At age 17, she left for the USA for a year, returning to Munich, Germany, afterwards for finishing school. Since her childhood she had the wish to become a musician and worked towards that goal. is a Japanese tokusatsu series that serves as the 12th installment in the '' Kamen Rider'' franchise and the third entry in the Heisei era. The series follows idealist journalist Shinji Kido as he attempts to stop the violent Rider War from claiming more innocent lives than it already has. La Femme is a French psych-punk rock band established by guitarist Sacha Got and keyboard player Marlon Magnée in 2010 in Biarritz. Several members joined later, including bass player Sam Lefevre, drummer Noé Delmas, and Lucas Nunez. Other members include Clara Luciani, Jane Peynot and Marilou Chollet. The band's music has been described as synthetic and hypnotic.
