The Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP) is a Brazilian industry entity. FIESP is affiliated with the National Industry Confederation (CNI). FIESP has 52 representative units in the state of São Paulo, representing 133 employer's trade unions and 130,000 industries. The federation is located in the city of São Paulo. The São Paulo industry building is the location of the Center of Industries of the State of São Paulo (CIESP), the Social Service of the Industry of São Paulo (SESI-SP), the National Service for Industrial Training of São Paulo (SENAI-SP), the Roberto Simonsen Institute (IRS) and the headquarters of several affiliated unions. Industry In Brazil
Brazilian industry has its earliest origin in workshops dating from the beginning of the 19th century. Most of the country's industrial establishments appeared in the Brazilian southeast (mainly in the provinces of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and, later, São Paulo), and, according to the Commerce, Agriculture, Factories and Navigation Joint, 77 establishments registered between 1808 and 1840 were classified as "factories" or "manufacturers". However, most, about 56 establishments, would be considered workshops by today's standards, directed toward the production of soap and Candle, tallow candles, Snuff (tobacco), snuff, Spinning (textiles), spinning and weaving, foods, Casting (metalworking), melting of iron and metals, wool and silk, amongst others. Industrial Social Services
The Brazilian Industrial Social Services (, ''SESI'' in Portuguese) is a private Brazilian not-for-profit institution that operates throughout the country. It was set up on July 1, 1946 stating its aim to be "promoting social welfare, cultural development and improving the lives of workers and their families and the communities they live in". Paulo Freire worked in SESI in Pernambuco from 1947 to 1958. Rino Levi
Rino Levi (São Paulo, 1901—Bahia, 1965) was a Brazilian architect important to the development of modernism in Brazil. Levi was born to Italian Jewish parents on December 31, 1901, in São Paulo, Brazil. After graduating from Colégio Dante Alighieri in São Paulo, Levi studied in Milan and Rome under Marcello Piacentini. Following his return to São Paulo, Levi established the firm ''Rino Levi Arquitetos Associados''. Levi was known for an architectural practice particularly dissociated from the construction process for his era. In the early 1930s Levi designed a number of modernist houses in São Paulo for Italian clients. Isidoro Dias Lopes
Isidoro Dias Lopes (30 June 1865 – 27 May 1949) was a brigadier general of the Brazilian army, often styled the "Marshal of the Revolution of 1924". Early life Lopes was born in the city of Dom Pedrito, Rio Grande do Sul, on 30 June 1865, son of José Tavares Bastos Rios and Jacinta Barros Lopes.
