Federation Of Awarding Bodies
The Federation of Awarding Bodies is the British trade association for awarding bodies and professional associations. The current chief executive is Tom Bewick. History It was founded in 2000. Function It represents providers of technical vocational education qualifications, not providers of general academic qualifications such as A Levels and GCSEs. Structure While the Federation has a mailing address in Grosvenor Square, London, the staff are home based. As of 2023, FAB has 8 members of staff and Board of 2 co-chairs, a treasurer and 9 non-executive directors. It represents 117 full members and holds two flagship conferences each year, one of which is dedicated to End Point Assessment (EPA), most commonly associated with apprenticeships. The Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) is the leading trade association for vocational learning and employment providers in Britain. Institute Of Employability Professionals
The Institute of Employability Professionals (IEP) is the professional association for the employability profession. The organisation was founded in 2011, and works to support the continued professional development (CPD) of front-line employability staff. Since the launch of the Focus on the Frontline Programme, the IEP has focused on primarily supporting those who work directly with jobseekers as well as front-staff in organisations who provide employment support, such as charities. Institute For Learning
The Institute for Learning (IfL) was a voluntary membership, UK professional body. It ceased operating on 31 October 2014. Although precise membership figures and statistical details had been removed from IfL's webpage prior to its closure, at the end of financial year 2013-2014 IfL were reported as having only 33,500 of their 200,000 members remaining. According to its statutory Memorandum of Association, the reason for which the IfL was established (the "Object") was: "to promote education and training for the public benefit by the enhancement and maintenance of the quality, standards and practice of learning and teaching." The UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP) is a website at https://www.ukrlp.co.uk/ which collects and disseminates information about learning providers in the United Kingdom. Registration with the site allows a school, college or other training organisation to share and update its information with organisations such as the Higher Education Funding Council for England, the Higher Education Statistics Agency, and the Skills Funding Agency. Information on the site can also be accessed by members of the public. The registry was created on 1 August 2005, and lists over 30,000 learning providers. Registration is free.
