Federation For National Education
The Federation of the National Education (''Fédération de l'Education nationale'' or FEN) was a French federation of teaching trade union, unions. It succeeded the General Federation of Teaching (''Fédération générale de l'enseignement'') founded in 1929 and affiliated to the Confédération Générale du Travail, General Confederation of Labour (''Confédération générale du travail'' or CGT). After World War II the CGT split, and the reformist wing created Force ouvrière, Workers' Force. In 1948, the teaching federation voted to leave the CGT and become independent. A minority of members retained dual membership with the CGT, and formed a new CGT Federation of Education. The FEN was dominated by the group called "Unity, independence and democracy" close to the Socialists. The minority groups were "Unity and action", influenced by the Communists, and "Emancipated school" close to the far left. The FEN was nicknamed the "fortress of teachers" and advocated secular ed ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Union Nationale Des Syndicats Autonomes
The National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions (, UNSA) is one of the French confederations of trade unions, but they do not have the of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), French Democratic Confederation of Labour (CFDT), Workers' Force (CGT-FO), French Confederation of Christian Workers (CFTC) and French Confederation of Management – General Confederation of Executives (CFE-CGC). Profile The UNSA wishes to gather the reformist unions, founded on independence and dialogue with employers. However, the UNSA is not strongly implanted everywhere in France, and received most votes from the white-collar workers and the engineers. The UNSA challenges the entrenched leadership of the reformist unions: the CFDT, CFTC and CFE-CGC, though the UNSA often co-operates with these unions. Professional elections The UNSA won 6.25% of the vote in the employee's college during the 2008 French Labour Court elections, its best result to date. It had won 4.99% in 2002. See also * ... Civil Servant
The civil service is a collective term for a sector of government composed mainly of career civil service personnel hired rather than elected, whose institutional tenure typically survives transitions of political leadership. A civil service official, also known as a public servant or public employee, is a person employed in the public sector by a government department or agency for public sector undertakings. Civil servants work for central and local governments, and answer to the government, not a political party. The extent of civil servants of a state as part of the "civil service" varies from country to country. In the United Kingdom (UK), for instance, only Crown (national government) employees are referred to as "civil servants" whereas employees of local authorities (counties, cities and similar administrations) are generally referred to as "local government officers", who are considered public servants but not civil servants. Thus, in the UK, a civil servant is a public ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Secular Education
Secular education is a system of public education in countries with a secular government or separation of church and state, separation between religion and Sovereign state, state. History Secular educational systems were a modern development intended to replace religious ecclesiastical and rabbinic schools (like the heder) in Western Europe. Secular schools were to function as a cultural foundation to diffuse the values of a human culture that was a product of man's own faculty for reason. This contrasted against religious education which placed value on tradition - knowledge that was "revealed" - instead of the "human values through which manifested the uniqueness of the human being in nature as a creature who is himself a creator, a being who shapes his environment and who fashions himself within that environment". For Jews the ideal was the ''Maskil'', the Jewish equivalent of Enlightenment philosophers or humanists. Actions and controversies Banning of religious symbols In ... Communists
Communism () is a sociopolitical, philosophical, and economic ideology within the socialist movement, whose goal is the creation of a communist society, a socioeconomic order centered on common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange that allocates products in society based on need.: "One widespread distinction was that socialism socialised production only while communism socialised production and consumption." A communist society entails the absence of private property and social classes, and ultimately money and the state. Communists often seek a voluntary state of self-governance but disagree on the means to this end. This reflects a distinction between a libertarian socialist approach of communization, revolutionary spontaneity, and workers' self-management, and an authoritarian socialist, vanguardist, or party-driven approach to establish a socialist state, which is expected to wither away. Communist parties have been described as ra ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
