Federal College Of Agriculture, Ishiagu
The Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu (popularly known as "FCA Ishiagu") is based in Ishiagu, Ivo Local government area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The college promotes education, training and research into agricultural production, processing and technology. History The college which was established in Umudike in 1955 by the government of Eastern Nigeria, was amalgamated with the Agricultural Research Station, Umudike in 1964 and was taken over by the East Central State Government in 1970. In 1972, the Federal Government took over the college as part of the Federal Agricultural Research and Training Station (FARTS), and in 1976 the school became the training wing of the National Root Crops Research Institute, Umudike. The National Board for Technical Education accredited the college programs in 1989, and again in 1993. The college was relocated to its current site in 1995. Ebonyi State
Ebonyi State ( ig, Ȯra Ebonyi) is a state in the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered to the north and northeast by Benue State, Enugu State to the west, Cross River State to the east and southeast, and Abia State to the southwest. Named for the Abonyi (Aboine) River—a large part of which is in the state's south—Ebonyi State was formed from parts of Abia and Enugu state in 1996 and has its capital as Abakaliki. Umudike
Umudike is a semi-urban settlement in Ikwuano Local Government Area Abia State, Nigeria, about 11 kilometers southeast of Umuahia, the state capital city. Eastern Nigeria
The Eastern Region was an administrative region in Nigeria, dating back originally from the division of the colony Southern Nigeria in 1954. Its first capital was Calabar. The capital was later moved to Enugu and the second capital was Umuahia. The region was officially divided in 1967 into three new states, the East-Central State, Rivers State and South-Eastern State. National Root Crops Research Institute
The National Root Crops Research Institute, Umudike, Abia State is an agricultural research institute in Nigeria. Its origins can be traced back to an experimental farm established at Moor Plantation, Ibadan on January 1, 1923 by the Nigerian Department of Agriculture. The School of Agriculture was established in 1955, and the two establishments were combined as the Eastern Nigeria Agricultural Research and Training Station (ARTS) in 1956, with headquarters at Enugu. In 1972, the institution assumed federal status as the Federal Agricultural Research and Training Station (FARTS).
