Father And Daughter (film)
''Father and Daughter'' is a 2000 Dutch animated short film written and directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2001. Plot A father says goodbye to his young daughter and leaves. As the wide Dutch landscapes live through their seasons so the girl lives through hers. She becomes a young woman, has a family and in time she becomes old, yet within her there is always a deep longing for her father. At the end of the film, in what appears to be a dream sequence, or perhaps the afterlife, they are reunited. Awards The film received over 20 awards and 1 nomination and is considered the most successful in the series of works by Dudok de Wit. Michaël Dudok De Wit
Michaël Dudok de Wit (; born 15 July 1953) is a Dutch animator, director and illustrator based in London. He won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for '' Father and Daughter'' (2000) and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for ''The Red Turtle'' (2016). Early life and education Michaël Dudok de Wit was born in Abcoude in the Netherlands. After his high school education in the Netherlands, he attended the Geneva School of Fine Arts. In 1978, he graduated from the West Surrey College of Art & Design (now the University for the Creative Arts) with his first film ''The Interview''. Career After working for a year in Barcelona, he settled in London where he directs and animates award-winning commercials for television and cinema. Normand Roger
Normand Roger (born 1949 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian composer, sound editor and sound designer. He is particularly known for his work as a composer of soundtracks for animated films, having composed more than 200 such works since 1970. He has also worked on the creation of music for documentaries, feature films, television dramas, children's series, commercials, and new technologies with 3D and virtual reality. He is the composer of many original soundtracks for Frédéric Back, Paul Driessen, Michaël Dudok de Wit, Caroline Leaf and Aleksandr Petrov. Thirteen of his works have been nominated for Academy Awards, of which six have won. He also notably wrote the theme for the PBS's ''Mystery!''. Roger lectures throughout the world on music and sound for animation.
