Cornelia Adele Strong Fassett (November 9, 1831 – January 4, 1898) was an American Painting, painter. She painted portraits of politicians. Her most famous work is her painting of the Electoral Commission of 1877. Jacob Sloat Fassett (November 13, 1853 – April 21, 1924) was a businessman, lawyer, and member of the United States House of Representatives from New York. Early life He was born on November 13, 1853, in Elmira, New York, the son of Newton Pomeroy Fassett and Martha Ellen (Sloat) Fassett. He attended the public schools of Elmira and graduated from the University of Rochester in 1875. He studied law at his father's firm, Smith, Robertson & Fassett, was admitted to the bar in 1878 and commenced practice in Elmira. He was District Attorney of Chemung County in 1878 and 1879. On February 13, 1879, he married in Sacramento, California, Jennie Louise Crocker (1860–1939), the daughter of Judge Edwin B. Crocker. Around this time Fassett became the proprietor of the ''Elmira Daily Advertiser''. Afterwards he enrolled as a law student at Heidelberg University in Germany. Frank Havrah "Kaffe" Fassett, MBE (born December 7, 1937) is an American-born, British-based artist who is best known for his colourful designs in the decorative arts—needlepoint, patchwork, knitting, painting and ceramics. While still a child, Fassett renamed himself after an Egyptian boy character from the book ''Boy of the Pyramid'' by Ruth Fosdick Jones. His name rhymes with 'safe asset'. Norman Carter Fassett
Norman Carter Fassett (March 27, 1900 – September 14, 1954) was an American botanist and professor, known as an expert on the aquatic flora of Wisconsin. Career Fassett was born in Ware, Massachusetts. He studied at Harvard University, eventually earning his Ph.D. in 1925. That year, he was appointed an instructor of botany at the University of Wisconsin. By 1944, he advanced to full professor and was curator of the university herbarium. Under his direction, the herbarium grew from a size of 96,000 specimens to 380,000 specimens. Fassett personally collected over 28,000. From 1948 to 1949, he was chair of the botany department. Fassett participated in the Colombian Cinchona Mission, where he was part of a group searching for and studying ''Cinchona'' trees during World War II. He later participated in research expeditions in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. South Creek Township is a township in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,128 at the 2010 census. Children residing in the township are assigned to attend the Troy Area School District. Geography South Creek Township is located in northwestern Bradford County, along the New York state line. It is bordered by Ridgebury Township to the east, Springfield and Columbia townships to the south, and Wells Township to the west. To the north, in Chemung County, New York, are the towns of Southport (northwest) and Ashland (northeast). Pennsylvania Route 14 runs north–south the length of the township, following the valley of South Creek, a tributary (via Seeley Creek) of the Chemung River in New York, and thence to the Susquehanna River. Route 14 passes through the unincorporated communities of Dunning, Gillett, and Fassett within the township. Fassett is a municipality and village in the Papineau Regional County Municipality in Quebec, Canada, located on the north shore of the Ottawa River east of Montebello. Its main access roads are Route 148, which passes through the town, and Autoroute 50 which passes to the north. History The area was part of the Petite-Nation Seigneury, formed in 1674 and originally owned by François de Laval, the first bishop of New France. The seigneury was acquired in 1803 by Joseph Papineau, who became its first civilian lord, and later sold it to his son Louis-Joseph Papineau. The area became of interest economically when England was forced to rely on its colonies for wood for construction of its vessels during the Napoleonic blockade of 1807.
