''Family Life'' ( es, Vida de Familia) is a 2017 Chilean drama film directed by Alicia Scherson and Cristián Jiménez. It was screened in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Plot A family goes on a trip and leaves their house and cat in the care of Martín, a distant cousin who is over forty years old and disappointed with life. Once settled in the house, he will try to conquer his attractive neighbor Paz, while inventing a fantastic life for himself. Alicia Scherson
Alicia Scherson (born 1974 in Santiago, Chile) is a Chilean film director, screenwriter, and producer. Biography Scherson studied filmmaking in the Escuela de Cine de Cuba and in 1999 received a Fulbright Scholarship to study for a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Scherson's debut film ''Play'' was awarded Best Director at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival. ''The Times'' called ''Play'' a "doozy of a showreel," but also criticized its "sketchy emotional construction." Scherson's second film, ''Tourists'', was selected for the 2009 Tiger Awards Competition. Scherson collaborated with author Alejandro Zambra on ''Vida de Familia'', a film based on one of his stories. The 80 minute feature was screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2017. Alejandro Andrés Zambra Infantas ( Santiago, Chile, b. September 24, 1975) is a Chilean poet, short story writer and novelist. He has been recognized for his talent as a young Latin American writer, chosen in 2007 as one of the " Bogotá39" (the best Latin American writers under the age of 39) and in 2010 by ''Granta'' as one of the best Spanish-language writers under the age of 35.
