Falso Brilhante
''Falso Brilhante'' ( en, Fake diamond) is a 1976 studio album released by the critically acclaimed Brazilian MPB singer Elis Regina. On the year of 1975 Elis Regina opened her solo concert entitled ''Falso Brilhante'', where she launched the career of a new composer, Antonio Carlos Belchior, (with his songs "Como Nossos Pais" and "Velha Roupa Colorida"). One year after that concert, she recorded part of the repertoire of the show and released on an LP. This LP was later reissued as a CD in 1999. It was listed by ''Rolling Stone'' Brazil as one of the 100 best Brazilian albums in history. The magazine also elected the song "Como Nossos Pais" as the 43rd greatest Brazilian song. Atahualpa Yupanqui (; born Héctor Roberto Chavero Aramburu; 31 January 1908 – 23 May 1992) was an Argentine singer, songwriter, guitarist, and writer. He is considered the most important Argentine folk musician of the 20th century. Biography Yupanqui was born Héctor Roberto Chavero Aramburu in Pergamino (Buenos Aires Province), in the Argentine pampas, about 200 kilometers away from Buenos Aires. His father was a mestizo of Quechua and Basque origins, while his mother was born in the Basque country. His family moved to the Northwest city of Tucumán when he was nine. In a bow to two legendary Incan kings, he adopted the stage name Atahualpa Yupanqui, which became famous all around the world. Elis or Ilia ( el, Ηλεία, ''Ileia'') is a historic region in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece. It is administered as a regional unit of the modern region of Western Greece. Ruy Alexandre Guerra Coelho Pereira (born August 22, 1931) is a Portuguese-Brazilian film director and screenwriter. Guerra was born a Portuguese citizen in Lourenço Marques (today Maputo) in Mozambique, when it was still a Portuguese colony. Biography Guerra studied at IDHEC film school in Paris from 1952. In 1958 he started his career as an assistant director in several French films. He subsequently immigrated to Brazil, where he directed his first feature film, ''Os Cafajestes'' (1962). It was entered into the 12th Berlin International Film Festival. In 1964, Guerra directed ''Os Fuzis'', which placed him in the forefront of the emerging Cinema Novo movement. Francisco Buarque de Hollanda (born 19 June 1944), popularly known simply as Chico Buarque, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, guitarist, composer, playwright, writer, and poet. He is best known for his music, which often includes social, economic, and cultural reflections on Brazil. The firstborn son of Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda, Buarque lived at several locations throughout his childhood, though mostly in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Rome. He wrote and studied literature as a child and found music through the bossa nova compositions of Tom Jobim and João Gilberto. He performed as a singer and guitarist in the 1960s as well as writing a play that was deemed dangerous by the Brazilian military dictatorship of the time. "Tatuagem" (English: ''Tattoo'') is a poem written by the Brazilian singer, composer, dramatist and writer Chico Buarque de Holanda and the Brazilian film director, screenwriter, film editor, and actor Ruy Guerra, for the stage play ''Calabar'' (1972–1973). The poem was adapted into a song by Buarque, who recorded it on his album ''Chico Canta'' (1973). Violeta del Carmen Parra Sandoval (; 4 October 1917 – 5 February 1967) was a Chilean composer, singer-songwriter, folklorist, ethnomusicologist and visual artist. "Gracias a la vida" (Spanish language, Spanish for "''Thanks to life''") is a song written, composed and performed by Chilean Violeta Parra, one of the artists who was part of the movement and musical genre known as the Nueva Canción Chilena. Maurice De Féraudy
Maurice de Féraudy (born in Joinville-le-Pont on December 3, 1859 - died in Paris May 12, 1932) was a French songwriter, stage and film director, and actor at the Comédie-Française. He was the father of actor Jacques de Féraudy. Life and career He joined the Théâtre Français in 1880, the company in 1887, and became dean in 1929. The role of his life, which he played 1200 times in nearly thirty years and of which he had a monopoly, is that of Isidore Lechat in ''Business is business'' (French: ''Les affaires sont les affaires''), Octave Mirbeau (1903). As part of the Comedy Francaise he toured Quebec, Montreal and New York in 1922, showing two plays by Molière. He has been applauded in the use of comedy, his playing full of cheerfulness. "Fascination" is a popular waltz song with music (1904) by Fermo Dante Marchetti and lyrics (1905) by Maurice de Féraudy. It was first published in Hamburg (Anton J. Benjamin) and Paris (Édition F. D. Marchetti) in 1904 in a version for piano solo ('Valse Tzigane'). As a song with de Féraudy's words, it was first performed by the French music-hall singer Paulette Darty, in 1905, and published the same year. Recordings With its English lyrics, by Dick Manning, "Fascination" was recorded by diverse artists including: Dick Jacobs, Nat King Cole and David Carroll, all of whose versions made the charts.
