"Fallin' is a collaboration between Scottish power pop band Teenage Fanclub and American alternative hip hop trio De La Soul. It was released in early 1994. The song was recorded for the soundtrack to the action film '' Judgment Night'', which featured other collaborations between well-known rock, metal and hip hop groups. Teenage Fanclub
Teenage Fanclub are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Bellshill near Glasgow in 1989. The group were founded by Norman Blake (vocals, guitar), Raymond McGinley (vocals, lead guitar) and Gerard Love (vocals, bass), all of whom shared lead vocals and songwriting duties until Love's departure in 2018. As of 2019, the band's lineup consists of Blake, McGinley, Francis Macdonald (drums, vocals), Dave McGowan (bass, vocals) and Euros Childs (keyboards, vocals). In concert, the band usually alternate among its songwriters, giving equal playing time to each one's songs. Although often pegged as alternative rock, the group have incorporated a wide variety of elements from various music styles in their songs. Teenage Fanclub have had a succession of drummers, namely Francis Macdonald, Brendan O'Hare and Paul Quinn. Keyboardist Finlay Macdonald (no relation) has also been a member. "Free Fallin'" is the opening track from American musician Tom Petty's debut solo album, ''Full Moon Fever'' (1989). The song was written by Petty and his writing partner for the album, Jeff Lynne, and features Lynne on backing vocals and bass guitar. The duo wrote and recorded the single in two days, making it the first song completed for ''Full Moon Fever''. "Free Fallin'" is one of Petty's most famous tracks as well as his highest- and longest-charting. It peaked at No. 7 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart in January 1990, becoming his third and final top ten hit. Josh Taft is an American music video director. He has directed music videos for Alice in Chains ("Would?"), Stone Temple Pilots ("Sex Type Thing", "Plush", and " Lady Picture Show"), Nas (" The World Is Yours"), A Tribe Called Quest ("Award Tour", "Electric Relaxation" and "Oh My God"), Cypress Hill ("Insane in the Brain"), Mother Love Bone (" Stardog Champion"), Pearl Jam ("Alive", "Even Flow", and "Oceans"), Mad Season ("River of Deceit"), and Fuel's 1998 hit " Shimmer".
