Falko Mohrs (born 23 July 1984) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as State Minister for Science and Culture in the government of Lower Saxony since 2022. He previously was a member of the Bundestag from the state of Lower Saxony from 2017 to 2022. Political career Member of the German Parliament, 2017–2022 Mohrs became a member of the Bundestag in the 2017 German federal election. He was a member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy and the Committee on the Digital Agenda. In this capacity, he served as his parliamentary group’s rapporteur on the digital economy and 5G. In addition to his committee assignments, Mohrs was part of the German Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the Central African States. The third Weil cabinet is the current state government of Lower Saxony, sworn in on 8 November 2022 after Stephan Weil was elected as Minister President of Lower Saxony, Minister-President of Lower Saxony by the members of the Landtag of Lower Saxony. It is the 30th Cabinet of Lower Saxony. It was formed after the 2022 Lower Saxony state election by the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Social Democratic Party (SPD) and Alliance 90/The Greens (GRÜNE). 2022 Lower Saxony State Election
The 2022 Lower Saxony state election was held on 9 October 2022 to elect the 19th Landtag of Lower Saxony. The incumbent government was a coalition of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) led by Minister-President Stephan Weil. The SPD remained the largest party with 33% and gained two seats, despite a decline of 3.5 percentage points. The CDU suffered a larger loss and won 28%. Stephan Weil (born 15 December 1958) is a German politician and the leader of the Social Democratic Party in Lower Saxony. On 20 January 2013, the SPD and the Green party won the 2013 Lower Saxony state election by one seat. On 19 February 2013, he was elected Minister President of Lower Saxony with the votes of SPD and Alliance '90/The Greens. From 1 November 2013 until 31 October 2014 he was President of the Bundesrat and ''ex officio'' deputy to the President of Germany. In November 2017, he was again elected Minister President with the votes of SPD and CDU.
