Falcons
Falcons () are birds of prey in the genus ''Falco'', which includes about 40 species. Falcons are widely distributed on all continents of the world except Antarctica, though closely related raptors did occur there in the Eocene. Adult falcons have thin, tapered wings, which enable them to fly at high speed and change direction rapidly. Fledgling falcons, in their first year of flying, have longer flight feathers, which make their configuration more like that of a general-purpose bird such as a broad wing. This makes flying easier while learning the exceptional skills required to be effective hunters as adults. The falcons are the largest genus in the Falconinae subfamily of Falconidae, which itself also includes another subfamily comprising caracaras and a few other species. All these birds kill with their beaks, using a tomial "tooth" on the side of their beaks—unlike the hawks, eagles, and other birds of prey in the Accipitridae, which use their feet. Kelowna Falcons
The Kelowna Falcons are a collegiate summer baseball team located in Kelowna, British Columbia. The Falcons are members of the West Coast League and play their home games at Elks Stadium. History The franchise traces its roots back to the Kelowna Grizzlies, who were founded in 1993. The Grizzlies were members of the Pacific International League. During their tenure the Grizzlies won the 1995 league championship. Following the 1998 the club suspended operations. The franchise was sold in 2000 and rebranded as the Falcons. Kelowna continued this membership with the Pacific International League playing from 2000 through 2004. ''Falcons'' (Icelandic: ''Fálkar'' ()), is the seventh film directed by Friðrik Þór Friðriksson. This film, released in 2002, is mostly in English language. Plot It is the story of an ex-convict, Simon (Keith Carradine), who after returning to Iceland where his mother was born, to visit relatives, looks for the loneliest place in the world to commit suicide. In a small village he meets Dúa (Margrét Vilhjálmsdóttir), an Icelandic young lady, who is found to be an interesting, rather strange woman by Simon. Dúa has a caged falcon that she hopes to tame, but they get into trouble as it is illegal to possess this kind of animal in captivity. In the story, Simon is the embodiment of a jailed bird, one of the falcons and as she is an air sign, they join in a relationship ruled by Simon's belief that she is his illegitimate daughter. The Winnipeg Falcons were a senior men's amateur ice hockey team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Winnipeg Falcons won the 1920 Allan Cup. That team went on to represent Canada in the Ice hockey at the 1920 Summer Olympics, 1920 Olympic games held in Antwerp, Belgium. There the Falcons, soundly beating all their opponents, won for Canada the first Olympic gold medal in ice hockey. The Winnipeg Falcons hockey team was founded in 1911 with a roster made almost entirely of Icelandic Canadians players who had not been able to join other Winnipeg teams due to ethnic prejudice. The West Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Falcons, is an Australian rules football club located in Joondalup, Western Australia. The USA Falcons was one of two national representative rugby union teams from the United States that competed in the North America 4 Series. The Ukrainian Falcons (, ) were the aerobatic demonstration team of the Ukrainian Air Force. It was established in 1995 as a team of 6 MiG-29 aircraft (5 MiG-29 9-13s and 1 MiG-29UB) and disbanded in 2002. Beginnings Tens of airshows were flown by the team over their existence. These included "The Ukrainian Tridents Tour" in 1992 which had stops in both Canada and the United States. With the team in its infancy, this tour was flown by only 2 MiG-29s and they were known as the "UkrAF MiG-29 Demonstration Team" at the time. Following the London, Ontario show, an aviation magazine titled their article "Tridents on Tour", stemming from the trident symbol in the Ukrainian Air Force emblem. Team Falcons (formerly Falcons Esports) is a Saudi esports organization. Founded in 2017, the organization fields rosters in multiple esports. The Springfield Falcons were a former ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) and played in Springfield, Massachusetts, at the MassMutual Center.
