Fairview, Alberta
Fairview is a town in Peace Country, Alberta, Canada. It is located southwest of Peace River and north of Grande Prairie at the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 64A. History In 1928, the railroad extended west from Whitelaw through the Beaver Indian Reserve across a stubble field where the Hamlet of Fairview was established. The community of Waterhole, five miles to the south, was packed onto skids and wagons and relocated to the railroad site. The first train rolled into Fairview on November 2, 1928. The hamlet was incorporated as a village on April 22, 1929. In 1949, the village was incorporated into the Town of Fairview. Geography The town is one of two communities in Alberta named "Fairview"; the other is the Hamlet of Fairview in southern Alberta. Fairview is a hamlet in southern Alberta, Canada within Lethbridge County. It is adjacent to the eastern boundary of Lethbridge, approximately south of Highway 3. More specifically, it is located on southeast corner of Highway 4 (43A Street South) and Highway 512 (1 Avenue South). The Hamlet of Fairview is one of two different communities in Alberta that go by the name of ''Fairview''. The Town of Fairview in northern Alberta is the more widely known of the two. Fairview is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by Glenmore Trail to the east by Blackfoot Trail, to the south by Heritage Drive and to the west by Macleod Trail Macleod Trail is a major road in Calgary, Alberta. Fairview Mountain (Alberta)
Fairview Mountain (sometimes called Mount Fairview) is a mountain in Banff National Park situated along the southeastern shoreline of Lake Louise. The mountain was named in 1894 by Walter Wilcox, which reflects the view from the top. An alternate name for the peak is ''Goat Mountain'' although it is rarely referred to as such. While imposing cliffs seen from Lake Louise may indicate a difficult climb, the mountain is easily ascended by experienced hikers via a trail around the backside on the southern slopes of the mountain. Geology Fairview Mountain is composed of sedimentary rock laid down during the Cambrian period. Formed in shallow seas, this sedimentary rock was pushed east and over the top of younger rock during the Laramide orogeny.
