Fairfield Stags Men's Soccer
The Fairfield Stags men's soccer team represents Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut and competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) of NCAA Division I. The Stags play their home games at Lessing Field on the campus of Fairfield University. The team was ranked nationally in 1998 (24th), 2000 (15th), 2001 (12th), 2005 (24th), 2006 (15th) 2007 (17th) and 2011 (25th) and competed in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament in 1999, 2006, 2008, and 2011. The 2006 team advanced to the second round in the NCAA Tournament after defeating in-state rival University of Connecticut, 2–1. The team also won the MAAC Championship Tournament in 1999, 2006, 2008, 2011, and 2017. Individually, ten players have earned Regional All-American honors including Mark Longwell '82 who was the first Stag to go on to play for the United States men's national soccer team and major professional soccer for the NASL Tampa Bay Rowdies. Carl Rees
Carl Rees is the head coach of the Fairfield Stags men's soccer team where he was the 1998 NSCAA New England Coach of the Year and the 1998, 2011 and 2017 MAAC Coach of the Year. Rees is a USSF academy national team scout. As a player he was a schoolboy footballer with Everton FC from age 14–17 before training full-time with the club. He joined Liverpool FC age 17–18. He represented the England FA team in 1983. After a successful college career Rees spent two seasons in the American Soccer League and at least one in the USISL. Rees started his coaching career in 1990 after a career ending injury. Player Rees grew up in England and played for the Everton and Liverpool Football Club youth teams. Portland Timbers (2001–10)
The Portland Timbers are an American professional men's soccer club based in Portland, Oregon. The Timbers compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member club of the league's Western Conference. Justin Thompson (soccer Player)
Justin Thompson (born January 9, 1981 in Prince Rupert, British Columbia) is a Canadian retired soccer defender who played professionally in the United States, Canada and England. He was a member of the Canada U-20 men's national soccer team at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. Canadian Men's National Soccer Team
The Canada men's national soccer team (french: Équipe du Canada de soccer masculin) represents Canada in international soccer competitions since 1924. Montreal Impact (1992–2011)
The Montreal Impact (french: Impact de Montréal) was a Canadian professional association football, soccer club based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1993, the team played in the United Soccer League. Later, the Impact played in the North American Soccer League (2011), North American Soccer League (NASL), the second tier of the American Soccer Pyramid until the 2011 season. Adam Braz (born June 7, 1981) is a former professional footballer who last served as Technical Director of the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer. Michael O'Keeffe (footballer)
Michael O'Keeffe (born 9 August 1990) is a New Zealand footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Team Wellington and played for the New Zealand U23 national team. Jim McElderry is an American soccer coach who currently coaches the men's soccer program at Rutgers University. Life Fairfield years A 1993 graduate of Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a minor in Economics, McElderry was a four-year letterman for the Fairfield Stags men's soccer team.
