Radburn (NJT Station)
Radburn is a New Jersey Transit train station in the Dutch Colonial Revival style, served by the Bergen County Line. It is on Fair Lawn Avenue in the Radburn section of Fair Lawn, in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. It is one of two New Jersey Transit train stations in Fair Lawn, the other being Broadway. The station was designed and built in 1929 by Clarence Stein, as part of the Radburn development. It has been listed in the state and federal Registers of Historic Places since 1984 and is part of the Operating Passenger Railroad Stations Thematic Resource. History The location of the Radburn development was considered beneficial because of its location on the Erie Railroad with connections to Jersey City, Newark and Manhattan. The designers of the development saw the benefit of a suburban railroad station for planning throughout the New York Metropolitan Area. Broadway is an NJ Transit train station served by the Bergen County Line located in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, Fair Lawn, in Bergen County, New Jersey, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. It is one of two NJ Transit train stations in Fair Lawn, the other being Radburn station, Radburn. The station is located on an overpass above New Jersey Route 4, Route 4, which is known as Broadway in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, Elmwood Park and Fair Lawn. History Originally known as a passenger stop called Warren Point, the elevated Broadway station dates to 1934 when Route 4 was built between Paterson, New Jersey, Paterson and the George Washington Bridge. The station recently underwent an upgrade where most of its signage and its shelter was replaced; in addition signs were installed at the corner of Broadway and East 55th Street and on the wall abutting the stairway to the Suffern-bound platform identifying the station as "Broadway Fair Lawn". Fair Lawn is a house located off NY 9D just south of Cold Spring, New York, United States. It was designed by the painter Thomas Prichard Rossiter, who moved into it for the last decade of his life. Subsequent owners modified the house slightly. In 1982, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Building Fair Lawn is located along a private driveway that begins just opposite Plumbush, the home of cannonmaker Robert Parrott, which was a bed and breakfast until its conversion into a private school in 2013.
