FOR Organizing Committee Of The United States
The FOR Organizing Committee in the United States or FOCUS was a small group of leftists in the United States. It was the US section of the Revolutionary Workers Ferment, known by its Spanish initials FOR (Fomento Obrero Revolutionario). FOCUS was founded by Stephen Suleyman Schwartz, Stephen Schwartz, a writer in San Francisco, who entered into correspondence with the FOR group and began contributing to its French journal ''Alarme''. After visiting France in 1979 and having discussions with the leader of the FOR tendency, Grandizo Munis, G. Munis, Schwartz returned to the US and established FOCUS. The group began to publish a periodical, ''The Alarm'' based in San Francisco. FOCUS was expelled from FOR in 1981, after it defended the Spanish section which had also been purged by Munis. Revolutionary Workers Ferment
The Revolutionary Workers Ferment, often known by its Spanish name or initials Fomento Obrero Revolucionario or FOR, was a small left communist international founded by Grandizo Munis, which arose as a split from the Trotskyist Fourth International at its Second Congress in 1948.Alexander, Robert ''International Trotskyism: a documented analysis of the world movement'' Durham, Duke University Press 1991 pp. 250–251. Though Munis and his co-thinkers carried on polemics with other currents of Trotskyst origin for three decades, and it was only in the late 1970s that a formal organization was formed. Lulu Schwartz (born Stephen Suleyman Schwartz, September 9, 1948) is an American Sufi journalist, columnist, and author. She has been published in a variety of media, including ''The Wall Street Journal''. She served as the director of the "Islam and Democracy Project" and as a senior advisor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a think-tank based in Washington, DC. She is the founder and executive director of the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Islamic Pluralism. In 2011–2012 she was a member of Folks Magazine's Editorial Board. She has been an adherent of the Hanafi school of Islam since 1997. Grandizo Munis
Grandizo Munis (Torreón, Mexico, 18 April 1912Paris, 4 February 1989) was a Spanish Trotskyist politician. He is considered to have become a left communist following his break with the Fourth International. Biography Grandizo first entered revolutionary politics as a member of the Izquierda Comunista de España (ICE). This group was led by Andrés Nin and was in sympathy with the views of Leon Trotsky and therefore affiliated to the International Communist League. Trotsky was opposed to the name of the group, which he argued was imprecise and badly expressed the program of the Bolshevik-Leninists. In addition, he entered into a dispute with Nin and the ICE when they refused his suggestion to enter the youth organisation of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE). Entryism (also called entrism, enterism, or infiltration) is a political strategy in which an organisation or state encourages its members or supporters to join another, usually larger, organization in an attempt to expand influence and expand their ideas and program. If the organization being "entered" is hostile to entrism, the entrists may engage in a degree of subterfuge and subversion to hide the fact that they are an organization in their own right.
