FITUN
Arising out of the 2000 Convention of NATUC, the main national trade union centre in Trinidad and Tobago, divisions took place which resulted in the formation of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions and Non-Governmental Organisations (FITUN). FITUN is not affiliated to any organisation. NATUC
The National Trade Union Centre of Trinidad and Tobago (NATUC) is a trade union federation in Trinidad and Tobago. It was created in 1991 by the merger of the Trinidad and Tobago Labour Congress (TTLC) and the Council of Progressive Trade Unions (CPTU). It has a membership of 100,000. The NATUC is affiliated to the International Trade Union Confederation and the Caribbean Congress of Labour. Following the 2000 Convention, divisions took place in NATUC which resulted in the formation of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions and Non-Governmental Organisations (FITUN) as a separate trade union centre. Communication Workers Union (Trinidad And Tobago)
The Communication Workers Union is a trade union in Trinidad and Tobago which has the bulk of its members in the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT). The Union has Recognised Majority (RMU) status at TSTT, Hilton Trinidad, Caribbean Lifts, RBP Lifts and Massy Communications. According to the union's constitution financial members may vote for and elect a board of eleven members to oversee the Union's business for a term. A term last three years and the last elections took place in 2017. Of the eleven elected executive board members, two are full time officers. Oilfields Workers' Trade Union
The Oilfields Workers' Trade Union or OWTU is one of the most powerful trade unions in Trinidad and Tobago. Currently led by Ancel Roget, the union was born out of the 1937 labour riots, the union was nominally led by the imprisoned TUB Butler but was actually organised by lawyer Adrian Cola Rienzi. The union was established on July 25, 1937, and formally registered on September 15. The first meetings were held in Fyzabad, and the first official headquarters were established on Coffee Street, San Fernando. In the 1960s and 1970s, under the leadership of George Weekes, the union grew into a potent political force, playing a role in the Black Power movement in 1970 and playing a role in the foundation of the United Labour Front. A national trade union center (or national center or central) is a federation or confederation of trade unions in a country. Nearly every country in the world has a national trade union center, and many have more than one.
