The men's Ski cross competition of the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships 2011 was held at Deer Valley, Utah, United States The United States of America (U.S.A. or USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S. or US) or America, is a country primarily located in North America. Ski Cross
Ski cross is a skiing competition which incorporates terrain features traditionally found in freestyle skiing with courses which include big-air jumps and high-banked turns. In spite of the fact that it is a timed racing event, it is often considered a type of freestyle skiing. What sets ski cross apart from other alpine skiing disciplines is that it involves more than one skier racing down the course. Any intentional contact with other competitors like grabbing or any other forms of contact meant to give the competitor an advantage leads to disqualification. Ski cross is a part of the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, the world championship organized by the FIS for freestyle skiing. Michael Forslund (born 22 July 1986 in Mora) is a Swedish freestyle skier, specializing in ski cross. Forslund competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics for Sweden. He placed 21st in the qualifying round in ski cross, to advance to the knockout stages. In the first round, he finished 4th in his heat, and did not advance. Alex Fiva
Alex Fiva (born 29 January 1986) is a Swiss freestyle skier who specializes in the ski cross discipline. Career He started his career as an alpine skier who had some success as a junior. In 2006 he was the Swiss Junior Bronze medalist in the slalom discipline; however, he quit alpine skiing in 2007. Having switched to freestyle ski cross, he made his World Cup debut in March 2008 in Meiringen, with a 29th place. However, it wasn't until early 2010 that he showed his potential, winning back-to-back Europa Cup races. These results earned him a place in the Swiss World Cup squad for the end of the season, his best result being 12th place in Grindelwald. At the start of the 2010–2011 season, he took another step forward. In the second World Cup event of the season in Innichen, he came from nowhere to secure 2nd place, having been 35th the day before.
