The Women's downhill competition at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2023 was held at Roc de Fer ski course in Méribel, France, on Saturday, 11 February. Switzerland's Jasmine Flury won the gold medal, Nina Ortlieb of Austria took the silver, and the bronze medalist was Corinne Suter of Switzerland. Méribel
Méribel () is a ski resort in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps. Méribel refers to three neighbouring villages in the Les Allues commune of the Savoie department of France, near the town of Moûtiers (), called Méribel Centre, Méribel-Mottaret and Méribel Village. The villages are within Vanoise National Park and a part of the Les Trois Vallées interlinked ski system. Méribel Les Allues is a ski resort that was developed adjacent to the traditional hamlet of Morel, with its centre situated at about 1400 metres above sea level. It was founded by a Scotsman, Major Peter Lindsay, who was looking for a new site for winter sports away from the ski resorts of Austria and Germany, because of the growing strength of the Nazi regime. Lara Gut-Behrami (; ; born 27 April 1991) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all disciplines and specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. She won the gold medal in the Super-G event at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Elvedina Muzaferija (born 20 August 1999) is a Bosnian female alpine skier. She carried her nation's flag at the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony. Biography Muzaferija was the first woman from Bosnia and Herzegovina to appear in downhill.
