Åre (pronounced like 'Aura') is a ski resort in Jämtland, Sweden, founded in 1909 and owned by SkiStar AB. Åre, short for Årefjällen (''Åre Mountains''), is located in Åre Municipality, just outside and above the village of Åre, approximately 80 km (50 mi.) from the city of Östersund. Veronica "Roni" Remme (born 14 February 1996) is a Canadian-born German World Cup alpine ski racer. From Collingwood, Ontario, Remme raced collegiately in the United States for the University of Utah and competed for Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics and 2019 World Championships. She made her World Cup debut in December 2017 and gained her first podium in February 2019. In January 2022, Remme was named to Canada's 2022 Olympic team. Charlotte "Charlie" Guest (born 30 December 1993) is a Scottish World Cup alpine ski racer who specialises in slalom and competes occasionally in giant slalom. She is the first British woman ever to win an Alpine European Cup race. Career Early career Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Guest started skiing at the age of 3 on the slopes of Cairngorm in the Scottish Highlands near her grandmother’s home in Nethy Bridge. Guest trained there with the Scottish Ski Club until she joined the British Ski Academy in France at 11. At age 14, she became the first British girl to win an international children’s race, before moving into FIS racing as part of the Scottish Alpine Ski Team. Paula Moltzan (born April 7, 1994) is an American World Cup alpine ski racer and specializes in slalom. Biography Born to Robyn and Mark Moltzan and from Minnesota, Moltzan began racing at Buck Hill, south of Minneapolis. She competed at the World Championships in 2015 at Beaver Creek, finishing twentieth in the slalom. A month later she won gold in the slalom at the Junior World Championships at Hafjell, Norway. Moltzan raced collegiately for the University of Vermont in Burlington and won the NCAA title in slalom in 2017 at Cannon Mountain, New Hampshire. Wendy Holdener (born 12 May 1993) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who specialises in slalom and combined. She is a two-time World champion in combined and a five-time Olympic medalist, four individual with one gold medal in the team event at Pyeongchang in 2018.
