The Men's downhill competition at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2019 was held on Saturday, 9 February. Åre (pronounced like 'Aura') is a ski resort in Jämtland, Sweden, founded in 1909 and owned by SkiStar AB. Niels Hintermann (born 5 May 1995) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in Bülach, Zürich, he specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. Career Hintermann made his World Cup debut at age 20 in November 2015 at Lake Louise, and was fortieth in the downhill. Boštjan Kline (born 9 March 1991) is a Slovenian World Cup alpine ski racer, and specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. He has competed in four World Championships, and the 2018 Winter Olympics. Career Kline made his World Cup debut in December 2009 in a super combined at Val d'Isere, France. He competed for Slovenia at the 2015 World Championships. He failed to finish the super-G, finished 33rd in the downhill, and was disqualified during the slalom run of the super combined. Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (born 16 July 1994) is a Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer, and specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. Ryan Cochran-Siegle (born March 27, 1992, nicknamed "RCS" ) is an American World Cup alpine ski racer and a member of the Skiing Cochrans family. Cochran-Siegle specializes in giant slalom and super-G, and also races in downhill and combined. He made his World Cup debut on November 26, 2011; his Olympic debut was in 2018, and he was the silver medalist in the Super-G in 2022. Career Cochran-Siegle learned to ski at around the age of two, being taught by his mother Barbara Cochran, gold medalist in the slalom at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan. After the 2010 season, he joined the U.S. Development Team, and one year later, he was promoted to the National B Team.
