Åre Ski Resort
Åre (pronounced like 'Aura') is a ski resort in Jämtland, Sweden, founded in 1909 and owned by SkiStar AB. Åre, short for Årefjällen (''Åre Mountains''), is located in Åre Municipality, just outside and above the village of Åre, approximately 80 km (50 mi.) from the city of Östersund. Carlo Janka (born 15 October 1986) is a Swiss former alpine ski racer. Born in Obersaxen, in the canton of Graubünden, he had the winter sports facilities right in front of his home. Janka has won gold medals at both the Winter Olympics and the World Championships, as well as one World Cup overall title, one discipline title and also, one unofficial alpine combined title. In 2013, Janka set a World Cup speed record in the downhill part of the super combined event in Wengen, Switzerland. Ryan Cochran-Siegle (born March 27, 1992, nicknamed "RCS" ) is an American World Cup alpine ski racer and a member of the Skiing Cochrans family. Cochran-Siegle specializes in giant slalom and super-G, and also races in downhill and combined. He made his World Cup debut on November 26, 2011; his Olympic debut was in 2018, and he was the silver medalist in the Super-G in 2022. Career Cochran-Siegle learned to ski at around the age of two, being taught by his mother Barbara Cochran, gold medalist in the slalom at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan. Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (born 16 July 1994) is a Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer, and specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. At the Junior World Championships, he finished eighth and ninth in 2012, followed by a bronze medal in super-G in 2013. In 2014 he improved further, first to a silver medal in super combined before he won the downhill.
