Birds Of Prey (ski Course)
Birds of Prey is a World Cup downhill ski course in the western United States, located at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, Colorado. The race course made its World Cup debut in December 1997. Beaver Creek is a traditional early December stop on the men's World Cup calendar. The course hosted the World Championships in 1999 and 2015, and is also used for super-G and giant slalom races. Prior to 1995, the World Cup speed events in North America were usually held in the latter part of the racing season. This course has hosted total of 65 men's World Cup events ( eighth all-time), and an additional three speed events in March 1988 were on "Centennial", the former speed course at Beaver Creek. Daniela Merighetti
Daniela Merighetti (born 5 July 1981) is a retired World Cup alpine ski racer from Italy. Born in Brescia, Lombardy, she competed in the World Cup, three Winter Olympics, and five World Championships. In the 2010 Winter Olympics, Merighetti competed in the women's downhill, combined and super-G, but failed to finish. In the 2014 Winter Olympics, she competed in the women's downhill, where she came 4th, and super-G, where she failed to finish. She did not start in the combined. She won her first World Cup race in 2012 at age 30, in the downhill at Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy on 14 January. Alexandra Coletti (born 8 August 1983 in La Colle, Monaco) is a Monégasque alpine skier who competed for Monaco in the 2006 Winter Olympics. Ilka Štuhec (born 26 October 1990) is a Slovenian World Cup alpine ski racer, focusing on the speed events of downhill and super-G. She was a three-time junior world champion in three different disciplines, and was the world champion in downhill in 2017 and 2019. Laurenne Ross (born August 17, 1988) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. She specialized in the speed events of downhill and super G. Born in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada, Ross was on skis at age two at the Snow Valley ski hill, as her father was a former alpine racer. The family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon, when she was age 7 and Ross skied and raced at Mount Bachelor near Bend. She was selected to the U.S. Ski Team in 2006, and made her World Cup debut in December 2009. Marie Mancuso (born March 9, 1984) is a retired American World Cup alpine ski racer, Olympic gold medalist and podcast host. She won the giant slalom at the 2006 Winter Olympics, and was the silver medalist in both downhill and combined in 2010, and the bronze medalist in the combined in 2014. Cornelia "Conny" Hütter (born 29 October 1992) is a World Cup alpine ski racer from Austria. Born in Graz, Styria, Hütter made her World Cup debut in November 2011 in Lake Louise, Canada. Larisa Yurkiw (born March 30, 1988) is a Canadian retired World Cup alpine ski racer, specializing in the speed events of downhill and super-G. Born in Owen Sound, Ontario, Yurkiw made her World Cup debut at Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Austria, in a downhill event in January 2007.
