Planai
Planai is a ski area in central Austria, the main mountain in the Schladming area in Styria. It is one of four adjoining mountains, which includes Hauser Kaibling, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm, connected under the name Schladminger 4-Berge-Schaukel. It is not regarded as a single mountain and all text from the official website cites the total amount of pistes. Planai was the host venue of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2013, held in early February. Schladming previously hosted alpine skiing's major biennial event in 1982, with the men's events at Planai and the women's at Haus im Ennstal. Stephan Keppler
Stephan Keppler (born February 1, 1983 in Innsbruck) is a German alpine skier. Keppler grew up in Albstadt, a town on the Swabian Alb, in Baden-Württemberg. He learned skiing at his local winter sports club, WSV, of Ebingen. As an adult, he joined the Bundeswehr, the German military, as an army-sponsored athlete (German: "Sportsoldat"). In 1999, he took part in his first FIS races. In the same season, he won the German youth championship in the slalom, in 2003 in the giant slalom and Super G competitions. Since 2003, Keppler has been starting in races of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, with his debut at Garmisch on February 22. Max Franz
Max Franz (born 1 September 1989) is an Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, he focuses on the speed events of Downhill and Super-G. Career Franz made his World Cup debut in November 2009 at Lake Louise, Canada. Three years later, Franz made his first World Cup podium in November 2012, in the Downhill at Lake Louise. He is the cousin of alpine skier Werner Franz. In 2017, Franz took his first World Cup win in Val Gardena in the downhill. He has two other wins in the World Cup, namely in Super G and another one in downhill. He also succeeded in the World Championships of 2017, where he achieved third place. Andrew Weibrecht (born February 10, 1986) is a World Cup alpine ski racer and two-time Olympic medalist from the United States. Born in Lake Placid, New York, he grew up racing at nearby Whiteface Mountain. Weibrecht races in all five disciplines and specializes in super-G; he attained his first World Cup podium in December 2015, finishing third in the super-G at Beaver Creek, Colorado. Ski racing career left, Weibrecht at the 2010 Olympics Weibrecht made his World Cup debut on November 30, 2006 at Beaver Creek and became a full-time World Cup racer during the 2008 season. Ivica Kostelić (; born 23 November 1979) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Croatia. He specialized in slalom and combined, but was also one of the few alpine World Cup ski racers able to score points in all disciplines. He is the brother of skiing champion Janica Kostelić. Carlo Janka (born 15 October 1986) is a Swiss former alpine ski racer. Born in Obersaxen, in the canton of Graubünden, he had the winter sports facilities right in front of his home. Janka has won gold medals at both the Winter Olympics and the World Championships, as well as one World Cup overall title, one discipline title and also, one unofficial alpine combined title. In 2013, Janka set a World Cup speed record in the downhill part of the super combined event in Wengen, Switzerland. Manuel Osborne-Paradis (born 8 February 1984) is a Canadian former World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Osborne-Paradis grew up racing for the Whistler Mountain Ski Club. His first World Cup podium came in November 2006 at the Bombardier Winterstart men's downhill in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. His first victory was at the downhill of Kvitfjell in March 2009. Werner Heel
Werner Heel (born 23 March 1982) is an Italian former World Cup alpine ski racer. Born in Meran, Heel grew up in St. Leonhard in Passeier and currently resides in Meran, where he works as a police officer. Heel began skiing at the age of four, and his main disciplines are downhill and super-G. In order to be competitive in super combined he also practices slalom. In 2004 he won the Italian championship in super-G at Caspoggio. His career has been slowed by several injuries. Heel has been in a relationship with fellow alpine skier Manuela Mölgg since 2009: as of 2018 the couple were engaged.
