FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup
The FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup (formerly FIBA Under-19 World Championship for Women) is the women's international under-19 Women's basketball, basketball championship organised by FIBA. From its inauguration in 1985, until 2005, it was held every four years. Since 2005, it has been held biennially. Women's basketball is the team sport of basketball played by women. It began being played in 1892, one year after men's basketball, at Smith College in Massachusetts. It spread across the United States, in large part via women's college competitions, and has since spread globally. As of 2020, basketball is one of the most popular and fastest growing sports in the world. There are multiple professional leagues and tournaments for professional women basketball players. 2007 FIBA Under-19 World Championship For Women
The 2007 FIBA Under-19 World Championship for Women (Slovak: Majstrovstvá sveta FIBA žien do 19 rokov 2007) was hosted by Slovakia from July 26 until August 5, 2007. Teams played a round robin schedule, with the top four teams of the eighth-final four advancing to the knockout stage. Overview The United States won their third title. The other medalists in the tournament were Sweden (silver) and Serbia (bronze). Spain's Marta Xargay was chosen as the tournaments MVP with an average of 15.4 PPG. 2017 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup
The 2017 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup ( it, Campionato mondiale di basket femminile Under 19 FIBA 2017) was hosted by Italy from 22 to 30 July 2017. Russia won their first title (or third if the Soviet Union is included) by defeating the United States 86–82 in the final. The bronze medal went to Canada who defeated Japan 67–60. Venues Qualified teams * Brazil qualified for the tournament but was suspended by FIBA. A fourth team from FIBA Americas had to be named to take Brazil's place. The draw took place with the fourth FIBA Americas team's identity yet to be named. On 12 May 2017, Mexico was chosen to replace Brazil.
