FC Münchberg
The FC Münchberg is a defunct German association football club from the town of Münchberg, Bavaria. The club's most successful era was in the late 1960s when it spent a single season in the tier three Bayernliga. History Formed in 1910, FC Münchberg has been, most of its history the club, a nondescript amateur side in local Bavarian football. The club was promoted to the Landesliga Bayern-Nord in 1965, spending the next three seasons in this league. The club was a strong side in the league in this time, finishing in the top six each year and culminating in a league championship in 1968. The later allowed the club promotion to the tier three Bayernliga for the first time but FC Münchberg lasted for only one season there, coming seventeenth and being relegated back to the Landesliga again. The Bayernliga (English: Bavarian league) is the highest amateur football league and the second highest football league (under the Regionalliga Bayern) in the state of Bavaria (german: Bayern) and the Bavarian football league system. It is one of fourteen Oberligas in German football, the fifth tier of the German football league system. Until the introduction of the 3. The Landesliga Bayern-Nord ( en, State league Bavaria-North) was the sixth tier of the German football league system in northern Bavaria. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the fifth tier of the league system, until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the fourth tier. The winner of the Landesliga Nord was automatically qualified for the Bayernliga, the runners-up needed to compete with the runners-up of Landesliga Bayern-Süd and Landesliga Bayern-Mitte and the 15th placed team of the Bayernliga for another promotion spot. The league was disbanded in 2012, when the Regionalliga Bayern was introduced as the new fourth tier of the German league system in Bavaria.
