F. A. Henninger
Frederick A. Henninger (1865–1944), commonly known as F. A. Henninger, was a leading architect of Omaha, Nebraska. He was born in 1865 at Albia, Iowa, and attended the Chicago Art Institute. He moved from Chicago to Lincoln, Nebraska, and in 1891 to Omaha. He worked as a draftsman for an architect in 1895 and purchased the practice in 1896. He worked as an architect in Omaha until his retirement in 1937. Scribner, Nebraska
Scribner is a city in Dodge County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 857 at the 2010 census. History Scribner was platted in 1870 when the railroad was extended to that point. It was named for publishing magnate Charles Scribner I. Today, Scribner remains a town of trade, even though the railroad no longer serves the town. By the mid-1970s, the future of railroad service came into question. The Chicago & North Western tracks had been experiencing mildly declining freight traffic volumes. Revenue railroad service ultimately ended in spring of 1982, when flooding from the Elkhorn River & nearby Pebble Creek damaged sections of the track. With freight traffic mildly declining & flooding damage, the C&NW promptly filed a request with the Interstate Commerce Commission to abandon the line. Strehlow Terrace
Strehlow Terrace, also called the Terrace Garden Apartment Complex and Ernie Chambers Court, is located at 2024 and 2107 North Sixteenth Street in the Near North Side neighborhood of North Omaha, Nebraska. Designed by Robert Strehlow and reputed local architect Frederick Henninger, Strehlow was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. History Constructed between 1905 and 1916, the buildings were owned and erected by Omaha master builder Robert C. Strehlow. The six buildings that comprise the complex are designed in the Prairie School style. The complex includes the Majestic, the Strehlow, and the Roland, built in 1905, 1907, and 1909, respectively. The Mary Reed House is a historic house in the Gold Coast area of Omaha, Nebraska. The house is a designated Omaha Historical Landmark, designed by notable architect F. A. Jewell Building
The Jewell Building is a city landmark in North Omaha, Nebraska. Built in 1923, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located at 2221 North 24th Street, the building was home to the Dreamland Ballroom for more than 40 years, and featured performances by many touring jazz and blues legends, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, and Lionel Hampton. The building has been designated as a Landmark by the City of Omaha, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is an example of the kind of venue that was integral to the cultural transmission and interchange of musical styles and art, especially in the years before television.
