F.C. Motagua
Club de Fútbol Motagua (), formerly Club Deportivo Motagua up to 2017, is an association football club, located in Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras. F.C. Motagua was founded as ''Club Deportivo Motagua'' on 29 August 1928. The club competes in the Honduran top division playing its home games at the Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés. The club is one of the most successful and renowned in Honduras. History The club was founded on 29 August 1928. Three previous clubs, América, Honduras Atlética and Águila, were in the process of falling apart. Marco Antonio Ponce and Marco Antonio Rosa called a meeting and proposed that the clubs unite to form a new club, Motagua (named for a nearby river). After the success of the meeting, a board of directors was appointed. The first game, played on 25 November 1928 was against Tejeros del España at La Isla. Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés
The Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés is a multi-purpose stadium in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It is used mostly for association football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 34,000 and is the home of football clubs F.C. Motagua, Motagua and C.D. Olimpia, Olimpia. Diego Vásquez
Diego Martín Vásquez Castro (born 3 July 1971) is a football coach and former player who is currently the manager of the Honduras national team. Club career Nicknamed ''Barbie'', Vásquez played most of his career in Honduras as a goalkeeper, most notably for F.C. Motagua where he conquered several titles and individual awards. He began his career playing for his hometown club San Martín de Mendoza. His debut for Motagua occurred on 24 August 1997, where he saved two penalty kicks in the 1–0 victory over C.D.S. Vida. According to Diego, his most memorable event as a player took place in the final series of the 1999–2000 Honduran Liga Nacional season against Club Deportivo Olimpia where after a 0–0 global score, the title had to be decided by penalty shoot-outs in which Vásquez saved the decisive kick to give Motagua its 8th national championship. Honduras National Football Team
The Honduras national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Honduras) represents Honduras in men's international football. The team is governed by the Federación Nacional Autónoma de Fútbol de Honduras (FENAFUTH). They are nicknamed ''Los Catrachos'', ''La Bicolor,'' or ''La H''. Honduras has qualified for the World Cup three times, in 1982, 2010, and 2014, and never advanced beyond the group stage.
