Exupere Joseph Bertin
Exupere Joseph Bertin (25 June 1712 – 21 February 1781) was a French anatomist born in Tremblay (Ille-et-Vilaine), Brittany. He was the father of cardiologist René-Joseph-Hyacinthe Bertin (1757-1828). He served as regent of the ''Académie Nationale de Médecine'' in Paris and was "first physician" to the royal army. He is remembered for his research on the renal system. His best known written work is in the field of osteology, ''Traité D'ostéologie'' (1754, 4 volumes). The columns of Bertin are named after him, as are "Bertin's ossicles" (sphenoidal conchae) and "Bertin's ligament" (iliofemoral ligament). Tremblay (Ille-et-Vilaine)
Tremblay (; ) is a former commune in the Ille-et-Vilaine department of Brittany in northwestern France. René-Joseph-Hyacinthe Bertin
René-Joseph-Hyacinthe Bertin (1757–1828) was a French anatomist known for his pioneer work in cardiology. He was the son of the anatomist Exupere Joseph Bertin, Exupère Joseph Bertin. Early life and education Bertin was born in Gohard, France on 10 April 1757. His father was Exupère-Joseph Bertin, who was a prominent physician remembered for his description on invaginated renal cortical tissue columns of Bertin. After studying in Paris, Bertin graduated from medical school at the University of Montpellier in 1791. Career Bertin was a military physician during the French Revolution and in the Napoleonic wars. After his military service, Bertin then returned to Paris and became the physician-in-chief at Hôpital Cochin. He specialized in disorders of the cardiovascular system with his assistant Jean Baptiste Bouillaud.
