''Extended Play '07'' is an EP by British alternative rock band Placebo, released on 31 July 2007 in the US only. It contains a popular single from every one of their albums as well as three live tracks. The EP was released mainly as a promotional item, targeting new fans created in the wake of the band's inclusion in Projekt Revolution 2007. Placebo are a British rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Drummer Robert Schultzberg joined in late 1994, but left in 1996 shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album due to conflicts with Molko, and was replaced the same year by Steve Hewitt. Following the release of a demo, a split single, and their eponymous debut album, Placebo gained exposure in 1997 after the single " Nancy Boy" became popular in the UK, a song notorious at the time for its gender-bending content. The band stood out amongst the Britpop scene they were associated with at the time for their androgynous appearance and musical content, and lyrics which openly discussed sexuality, mental health, and drug use. Hewitt left Placebo in 2007, due to personal and musical differences. He was replaced the following year by Steve Forrest. The Bitter End (song)
"The Bitter End" is a song by British alternative rock band Placebo. It was released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, ''Sleeping with Ghosts'' (2003), on 10 March 2003. The song is based on the novel ''Nineteen Eighty-Four'' by George Orwell. There are several references to it throughout the song, one of the most noticeable being the reference to 2 May - the date on which the two main characters, Winston and Julia, first spend the night together. "The Bitter End" and "Every You Every Me" are the two most often played songs in the Placebo's live shows. Critical response Critics generally praised the single upon its release.
