"Express" is a song by British artist Dina Carroll, released as the fifth single from her first album, '' So Close'', in May 1993. The song was a chart success in the United Kingdom, peaking at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart. On the Eurochart Hot 100, it reached number 44 in June 1993. Critical reception Jon O'Brien from AllMusic noted the "jazz-funk" of the song. Pan-European magazine ''Music & Media'' commented that Carroll "uses the Bowie trick of implementing a weird noise just beyond the irritation factor. Very Dina-mic dance stuff." Dina Carroll
Geraldine Carroll (born 21 August 1968) is an English singer. She had a string of hits during the 1990s, including the UK top ten singles, " It's Too Late" (1991), " Don't Be a Stranger" (1993), "The Perfect Year", (1993), and "Escaping" (1996). Carroll released two studio albums, '' So Close'' (1993) and '' Only Human'' (1996), both of which reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and were certified platinum. She won Best British Female Solo Artist at the 1994 Brit Awards. Early career Carroll was born in Newmarket, England to a Scottish mother and an American father. She started singing at age of five, and despite the lack of formal vocal coaching, she won a local talent competition in 1981, at the age of thirteen, with her rendition of Barbra Streisand's " Woman in Love". Simon Fowler (born Simon R. Fowler in 1954) is an English photographer/director, known for his work with many singers and bands. Early life and career Fowler was born in Hastings. After completing an Art Foundation course at High Wycombe College of Art and Technology he then studied photography at Amersham College of Art and Technology. In 1974 he got his first job as a darkroom assistant at London Features International a photographic syndication agency founded in 1971 by businessman John Halsall and photographer Mike Putland. Putland left LFI in 1976 to start the RETNA. agency. At around the same time Fowler left working out of his own B/W portrait studio in Henley-on-Thames. In 1978/9 he went into partnership with fellow photographer and LFI employee, Paul Cox, initially working from a small office at LFI's Baker Street studios in return for their syndication rights. "Ain't No Man" is a song by British singer-songwriter Dina Carroll. After singing on two singles with British dance production duo Quartz, she was relaunched as a solo artist with the song, which was released in June 1992 as the first single from her debut album, '' So Close'' (1993). Lyrically it is sung from the view of a woman singing to her man, telling him that there ain't no man that makes her feel like he do. Carroll told in an 1992 interview, "We wanted an anthemic, memorable song. For some reason, Nigel owisbrought up 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough', and that idea evolved into 'Ain't No Man'." The song was well received among music critics and peaked at number 16 in the UK charts, number 26 in the Netherlands and number 63 in Germany. David Byron Cole (June 3, 1962 – January 24, 1995) was an American songwriter and record producer. Cole was one half of the dance-music duo C+C Music Factory, which he founded with his musical partner Robert Clivillés. Robert Clivillés and David Cole also produced various hits for other artists such as Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, Deborah Cooper, and many others. After Cole's death in 1995, Robert Clivillés continued to keep C+C Music Factory going through his own production work. Musical career Tennessee native Cole was a keyboardist at a church choir in 1984 when, already a regular guest there, in club Better Days he approached club owner Bruce Forest.
